I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Some cracking pod pics and love the canopy shot of the primo, that's huge and going to be dripping in pods of pain , that BBM x Madballz is going to be one nucleur pepper. You going to do a pod review. ?
Killer grow love it.

Thank you, Sim! I love your description of "dripping in pods of pain". After watching PeterS review F1 of that strain last year, I doubt I'll try to eat a whole pod myself. Lol. Thanks again!

So we got dumped on in the middle of the night with high winds and the garden looked haggard. But it recovered and I noticed one branch snapped off of one of my BBM x Madballz plants. Good thing I have 4 (with 4 little ones in pots). But I tried isolating a couple of flowers on one of them via the glue tech...one fell off, but one is still hanging on after 4 days. When flowers drop, you can pull the petals out and see the color of the tiny green pod in the calyx. Well, the little pods in this particular plant are very light in color, so that's why I'm trying to isolate that one first. I'll probably isolate at least one on each because I'm sure they'll vary a lot in the F2 stage. Now for some small pod porn.

Yellow Primo looking great already.

Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much, TBG! I'm anxiously awaiting my first ripe super...but that's a long time away.

My plants are a lot smaller this year than in previous years. I'm gonna guess it's the fish I switched to. They're just not as big and producing later. I might just switch back to MG next year. But no worries. I don't need to have tons of pods anyway. But I did pull my first ripe pod yesterday. Aji Fantasy Yellow. I'm not good with flavor identification, but what I got was a grassy green flavor...which I like. The heat surprised me, though. My tolerance is super-low right now, but I'd say it was about as hot as a Jalapeño. It'll make a great snacking pepper. But this plant had flowers and set this pod before any other flowers were opened, so I'll label these seeds as isolated.

And one flower that I isolated with glue on my BBM x Madballz set a pod and you can see it starting to break through the still-glued petals.

Very nice pics!

Great looking pods. I'm intrigued by your isolation technique.
Thank you very much, Chuck! It's a method I learned on here a few years ago by Browning. Just look for a flower that's almost open and rub a little white glue on the closed petals. When the petals attempt to open, it should balloon a little but remain sealed. I just tap on it every so often throughout the next few days to distribute the pollen inside. It doesn't always work every time and rain washes away the glue sometimes. But it's my favorite technique for isolating.

Here's a pic of a glued flower "ballooning".

Thanks for the information. I will have to try that technique. Might work better for me than the netting. To many plants crammed together.

Great pic of the technique!

Thanks again, Adam.

And I too, am intrigued with the very cool isolation method ;)

Edit: I forgot to mention, super pics!
Thank you, Scott! I forgot to mention that I like to put a second coat of glue on the petals after the first coat dries. The only thing that sucks about it is you can't choose your pod pheno. The one you isolate is what you get. Lol

I'm finally getting flowers on my C. Chacoense.

Thank you, GIP! You're right! I personally don't like tomatoes, but as soon as Sunsugars ripen, I am to bring them in and give them to the gf immediately. Lol

Love the pics!

Wishing you continued success ;)
Thank you, Scott! Have you tried any "glue" isolating yet? So far, I've had 3 fall and 2 set. That's pretty good for me. I want some fresh SB7J seeds this year and the pheno I have is great, so I'm trying to isolate that one also. I appreciate the encouragement!
