Bhuter's 2018 Glog

Hello everybody! I'm late again to the adventures of pepper growing. Seeds didn't hit the towel until March 6, so I have some still below, some hooks, and some little plants. Not too much to look at right now but how about a growlist.

Lots of crosses, purples, & BBG. I also air layered a clone from the Caramel Cinder F2 last year (with the help of pepper-guru...thanks, Rich) and it's been in stasis until recently. Just starting new growth and already set a pod.

And here's the whole lot. I don't have much room...just what I can fit under a card table.

Quoting an old post, Rick, because TrentL positively identified my "Broad Mite" issue last year as 2,4-D herbicide damage. That's a good thing to me because I had no broad mites. Lol. But how to keep people from spraying without causing a feud, is the problem. New neighbors moved in last year, but I don't know if they spayed or if it was other people getting the property ready. Either way, it wasn't pests. Lol
Crazy to read what you posted because I had the EXACT same thing happen to me this year earlier on and was chasing my tail, freaking out at anything I could find but was baffled because I was indoors and had treated the plants with so much azamax I nearly killed them from repeated dosing and the leaf curl looked horrible - when I started looking up 2,4-D in relation to peps and tomatoes and sure as hell that's exactly what the landlord had been spraying in a big tank on the back of his atv and must have went through the windows as he emptied 50 gallons of solution outside!

Took lots of flushing and just plain old time to get the systemic flow through their system and they were stunted the whole time! So tragic. So now I need to have a talk with him without stepping on his toes as hes a lawn and landscaping nut-and it is his property but ALL THE WORK we put in with this hobby y'know...

Nice plants! Can't wait to see how everything turns out

Thanks, Andy! Kinda looking forward to August. But I have an early indoor pod that should be done in June. :woohoo:

Adam great plants ... they have grown well for you .. your SB7J and Cinder are flying here
Thank you, John! Man, it's great to hear that you're growing them! Thank you! I went back and looked at what you sent and it's all pure gold! I'm always learning about new people and the varieties that they've passed around. So when I saw that you sent some of Beth Boyd varieties, I couldn't believe it. Thanks again for all of those! Did I see you had Bubblegum Pumpkin seedlings early on?

Son of a....frickin' landlord! Ugh. So much work, ruined by carelessness. How DO you say anything to the neighbors/landlord? It'll start a life long feud. But I'm glad you have the damage figured out. Now we know what we're looking at.

Nice comparison plant update ;) Those gals will be ready soon enough!

Does Alice like peppers?
Thanks Scott! You know, we've never tried peppers. Like a bell. She does like spice, though, because she likes mustard greens and radishes. But that's fumey, nasal spice. She had more of a sweet tooth (or fruity) when it comes to the extras. Raspberries, dried mango and dried pineapple she likes. She can't have lettuce because there's no nutritional value and cabbage is poisonous to them. But spinach and arugula with shredded carrots and raspberries are her standard salad with superworms for protein.

Sweet smile [emoji2]. Do you ever use her waste for compost? With a diet like that, it seems like it would be good , but Im clueless.

Hmm...interesting. I don't know anything about it, but they sh!t like birds. Feces and urine come out at the same time...I'm guessing...or they don't piss at all because they're desert animals that barely take in any water. I don't know. I'm clueless as well. But it's usually a mess. But if she's had a lot of worms, it's a white plug at the end of a log. Lol. TMI...I know. But you're right! That should make some great stuff!

We sure did get that wind. Steady 29mph with gusts higher. Plants stayed in that day. Lol. Are you hardening off your plants yet?

Yes I am hardening off some of my plants. I am small time compared to most on THP. Sunday I picked up 4 Scotch Bonnets and 4 jalapeño plants, those I planted already. Today I planted my OW Tabasco. Still have some cayenne, habanero and Tabasco plants along with kumato tomato plants at work that are getting hardened off.

Very nice list! I have a peach and cappuccino scotch bonnet this year. I think I'll do more bonnets next year, too.

I potted up two little guys today. Only in the sun for the pic. They'll sit in the shade today. PeachGum v3 on the left and Peach Clavo x Pink Tiger on the right. It's not the clavo cross that was an ass hat, it's the other I started after...this one caught up and passed it. The other one is still alive and growing...better now that it's outside.

That PeachGum looks interesting.

The PeachGum peppers shown on Mojo's site are crazy looking.  I can't wait to see if your peppers turn out looking like those.
Same here! This v3 version is supposed to look like the v2 on his site, but the calyx and seeds are bigger. I have no clue how they'll actually look. I haven't seen pictures. But I'm planning on overwintering this one.

I'm a big fan of the purple plants, regardless of how they taste...LOL I just love to watch them grow. It seems anything with "gum" in it is purple. Do you know the parentage?

It's a BBG7 MAMP (BBG7 x PDN) x Pink Tiger. I agree with you on the purple. I love the foliage and the color transformations. I have a lot of purples this year. Well, like 6 or so. Lol. I can't wait to see what my PDN x 7 Pot Caramel F1 does this year, too!

Lovely looking PeachGum .. have to agree there is something special about purple varieties I am waiting for Jeanie Yangers Purple Ghost Scorpion to flower. Bonnets next year more than happy to help with seed
Thank you! I have a Purple Ghost Scorpion this year, too John! I got my seeds from mojo, but he got his from Jeanie Y. It's a beautiful plant. Mine is still small, though.
