chinense Bhuts taking long to germinate

Its been a while since I have been on these forums.

I ordered and put some NMSU Bhut seeds to germinate a few weeks ago, they are taking real long to come up
I put 10 seeds and so far only 6 have come up after 2 1/2 weeks

If I recall early this year I had done the same and they all germinated within a week.

Anybody else find the NMSU seeds taking long to start ?

Hey Pablo from nmsu added seeds to the parcel and said they can take up to 30 days I think.Check the parcel threads for the growing tips he added towards the end.He said the were worse than an ex wife at being difficult.lol...Please no one hunt me down.

I soaked mine for 48 hrs in water. They all came up in three weeks. You have to keep them warm and slightly damp. Keep the patience, they'll come up.:)

Yah, if you have had some come up just be patient.
I planted several varieties this year and the Nagas (Dorsets) were one of the first to show their heads. My Asain Birds Eye (yes one, the rest didn't germ) took damn near close to four weeks to pop up.

It won't happen overnight but it will happen:)

I had a Naga Morich seed that I put in soil on the 2nd June 2007 and it germinated on the 10th July 2007 (obviously). I'm not normally this organised with my seed planting and germinating times though, I'm not an organised kind of person.

I started my germination in September (1st month of Spring in Oz)- I planted out 20 jiffy pellets with two seeds in each pellet, using a heat pad set to 40 deg C I had 100% of seeds come up within 2 weeks. my seeds came from NMSU.

use bottom heat for accelerated results.

40 degrees? My Nagas germinated in 9 days @ 25 degrees.

congratulations on the short germ at lower temps

I'm germinating in jiffy pellets which sit in little pots so there is a slight gap between the actual pellet and the heat tray we could be doing the same thing

I posted earlier showing pics of Scorpions I grew from seed from TriniHottie, it was the post which included a pic of a local dollar bill.

Yes and no, due to the tropical climate here there are a lot of whitefly and bugs which attack the peppers everywhere, its pretty bad by me too since we have a lime tree and citrus trees always have whitefly on them no matter how much you spray they always return

Its almost guaranteed that a pepper plant wont be healthy after 6 months,
it will most likely have caught a virus transmitted by some biting bug or another. Most farmers here have a cycle where they always have young plants ready to replace plants which would soon be failing.

The Italian guy(pepperonanci?) who has huge plants is very lucky to be able to grow so many for so long.

10 days max

use a heated pad and a cover.
remove cover everyday for a few hours so they dont mold.

but ya ... more than 10 and you are just too cold.

When you put it that way it doesn't sound all that good hahaha.

Put some Bhut Jolokia seeds on wet paper towel in a quart glad container and put it on top of my water heater. I did it on thursday and now have two sprouts.
