Bodeen's 2012 Grow Log - THE END!!!!!

Anxious to get dirt under my nails, so I might as well start this thing off.

Got an unfinished basement that is mainly storage. It has an old 1957 bathroom in it. I tore that out today and will be using that as my grow room as soon as I get it done. It is small enough a small heater will keep my temps in check. (Pictures of progress will come once I get it looking better lol)

Last year I built a grow table and this year I am putting up a shelving unit with grow lights on many of the shelves.

My one garden area that will be expanded on this year I believe. 40x30

My other garden which is longer, but not as wide.

Then I put this row in last year and my thoughts we strawberries, but it might be a row of peppers.

My motto is Rabbit eats garden, Gardener eats rabbit. They are the reason I have to fence the gardens

I also plan on doing some peppers in pots this year.

My tray of peppers last year went 71 out of 72 popped. Hope I can get these results this year.

Very nice looking Mulato and Jalapeno peppers ya got there Bodeen! I'd be curious to see if they taste any different than the garnet red Anchos that I grew. I've been drying and grinding them together with Anaheims, Pasillas and Chimayos to make chili powder. Cheers!

With a few exceptions, I think I am about done with putting up peppers for myself. Some plants are just starting to come on, but the rest of them I think I have enough done. I did three more trays of lemon drops and overall I have the dehydrator full again.

Looking for cold weather Monday, no frost, but pretty darn cold. Going to feel good to get those 20 some pounds of seeds swept up off my hobby shop floor.

Found my first batch of fall stump mushrooms today. It's been kind of dry here so I wasn't sure if we'd get any or not.

Going to be a good dinner tonight. Mushroom sandwiches with hot pepper rings

Got some peppers that I could use some help with. Just putting up pod pics, but I can put plant pics up in a couple days.

First up are some of my Bhuts

Yellow bhuts with some impressively big pods. Saving the seeds out of the big pods.

Chaguanas is what it was suppose to be.

Douglah. But this one too is chocolate. One of the strongest smelling peppers I have ever cut into.

Your harvest and pod shots are first class, Bodeen! Glad I ate
dinner before I checked out your glog; those foodie pics would
have driven me crazy - great use of your harvest. You are quite
the cook!

Hope you have a great weekend, brother!

Had a couple omelets for dinner tonight. A chocolate cayenne and a donnie sali.

The cayenne I only used a little piece and it gave nice flavor and no heat. The sali I didn't know how many to use and thought I might have over done it a bit. The first bite was quite hot, but the rest didn't have heat to it at all. As much as I beat it, the peppers were spread out. I did end up with a nice eye sweat by the end of dinner. I might have to grow them next year. Nice taste to the omelet, just wouldn't want to have to pick a pint of them lol.

I hear ya man... my Jalapenos have been green forever it seems. They're starting to turn orange instead of red and the plants are dropping their leaves, so I decided to pull all the pods. Made poppers last night with the dozen largest and will pickle the rest today. I decided to give away the Orange Hab plants instead of trying to OW because with my wife's houseplants and tender perennials inside I only have room for one flat in the kitchen windowsill, and I'm going to need that for starting Manzanos, Yellow sevens and Scotch Bonnets this winter. Cheers!

Frost looks to have hit the neighbor down the hill, but up on top of the hill it looks to have missed me. If I can get a couple more weeks it would be great.

Some hot pepper jelly pictures.

Your tumbleweed windbreak/frost cover is ingeneous, Bo! It must have
been a shock to get up and find that in your garden! Great looking jellies,
bro; guess I need to learn how to do that. I've enjoyed the few pepper
jellies I've tried.

Hope you had a good weekend, and that are continuing to escape the frost.
Hopefully, we are a month away from frost; that's about the median date, so
it could be more or less. More would be good!

Good growin' to you!

A couple more weeks would be nice for sure, looks good if the 10 day forecast doesn't change.
Glad i came across your glog seeing the jam's your making is very interesting and something else to try.
Cross your fingers on the weather

Sitting at work and all I want to do is head home to check on peppers. There are 3 plants I want to winter over but I am trying to wait as long as I can. I know they will drop their pods if I repot now and they have a ton of pods on I want to try and harvest.
