Bodeen's 2012 Grow Log - THE END!!!!!

Anxious to get dirt under my nails, so I might as well start this thing off.

Got an unfinished basement that is mainly storage. It has an old 1957 bathroom in it. I tore that out today and will be using that as my grow room as soon as I get it done. It is small enough a small heater will keep my temps in check. (Pictures of progress will come once I get it looking better lol)

Last year I built a grow table and this year I am putting up a shelving unit with grow lights on many of the shelves.

My one garden area that will be expanded on this year I believe. 40x30

My other garden which is longer, but not as wide.

Then I put this row in last year and my thoughts we strawberries, but it might be a row of peppers.

My motto is Rabbit eats garden, Gardener eats rabbit. They are the reason I have to fence the gardens

I also plan on doing some peppers in pots this year.

My tray of peppers last year went 71 out of 72 popped. Hope I can get these results this year.

Bishops hat pods have been having a lot of mold around the seeds inside. Don't have that in the other plants, so I wonder if this is due to their shape perhaps? All the folds also make a nice home for spiders of some sort too. Gotta be careul when eating these things lol.

Flavor is getting better but one plant has no heat at all.

wow... no heat on the BC?? does it have atleast any flavor... just like 3 of my purple jal plants.... no heat.. i guess it didnt get stressed...just me....

My purple jalapeno plants had varying heat. Some pods wouldn't have any heat at all while some pods on the same plant would heat me enough to make cheeks throb. They say there is a large variable in heat levels.

I was hoping when you posted it would be about a box of peppers you just received.....hopefully tomorrow.

God is great .. beer is good.. and people are craaazzzyy..... thanks jeff will do the reviews in a timely manner...are these peruvian white or GIANT WHITE HABs?

Started what could be the last of my weekend harvests. Hoping to make it a couple weeks into October, but I don't know. The weather is causing these things to ripen fast.

Some nice Bhuts.

How do you like the taste of the Donne Sali? I'll be growing that for the first time in 2013.

Also, about the Yellow Bhuts, there some going around that seem to not be so stabilized... luck of the draw really.

The Donne Sali doesn't have much taste to me. I put a few in an omelet last week and the first bite I could taste the heat flavor, if that makes sense. I was thinking wow, I might have over done it. But there was no more heat the rest of the way. They were spread out in the omelet too. I don't know what your weather is like, but these took forever to ripen. You should be okay though.

Today's Harvest. Another 150 lemon drops and 80 lanterns in this pile. They are good producers.

Add another 6 quarts of tomatoes to the list. Up to 69 now.

All of my Santa Fe peppers that were ripe and some chicken. Also in the photo is a 60 year old wooden spoon. It is by far my favorite to use.

And the finished product.

Huh, I'm surprised to hear that... I'll give an update about this time next year...

The bhuts are actually orange. Been that way for a week or so and won't turn red like the others. Wonder if this is something different. I kept some seeds to try next year and see what comes of them.

I will only be using or trading seeds from my longer than long yellow bhuts that I picked this season.

Well this is my next to last harvest according to the weather. Frost called for tomorrow night, freeze for Saturday. Tomorrow will be full out blitz on the garden, tonight was just a prelude.

How far back should I cut my overwinters?

Tonight's meager harvest

My biggest bombs, These will get stuffed with ham.

My nasty looking pods. Definitely saving these seeds out.

Also made up another batch of serrano jelly and two more batches of lemon drop jelly. Next up will be some Cascabella jelly

I think I might have picked my last tonight, but I cheated. It was the last picking of the habs anyway, so I pulled the plants and put them in the garage to pick tomorrow. Also did this with a couple thai plants as well.

The Jalapeno plants were also done, so I used them to cover a bhut that was a really late producer. It is loaded with green pods. I covered my bajio with a blanket, not sure if all the green pods on it will ripen if I pick them or if they will be good tasting green.

Covered a couple others, but pretty much done. Will post pics later after I eat.

When the ice started falling, one of my peppers looked at me and said, "WTF is this!!!!"

DANGGGG I cant believe your getting ice already. :( You had a good "Last" harvest. Plenty of pretty pods. Good luck on your overwinter. I dont know anything about overwintering but I think Pepper Guru posted a thread on it. I will try to find it and post it for you here

The last of the lemon drops going in the dehydrator.

I pulled my habanero plants and stashed them in the garage so I can pick them tomorrow. I later added two thai plants to the pile
