Bodeen's 2012 Grow Log - THE END!!!!!

Anxious to get dirt under my nails, so I might as well start this thing off.

Got an unfinished basement that is mainly storage. It has an old 1957 bathroom in it. I tore that out today and will be using that as my grow room as soon as I get it done. It is small enough a small heater will keep my temps in check. (Pictures of progress will come once I get it looking better lol)

Last year I built a grow table and this year I am putting up a shelving unit with grow lights on many of the shelves.

My one garden area that will be expanded on this year I believe. 40x30

Then I put this row in last year and my thoughts we strawberries, but it might be a row of peppers.

I also plan on doing some peppers in pots this year.

My tray of peppers last year went 71 out of 72 popped. Hope I can get these results this year.
 
Great looking ppot ups, Bodeen! Spring is coming, I just know it, right?
Wish we had praying mantises in this area. We do have damsel flies,
ladybird beetles, and the like. The thumb and forefinger method works
pretty good! Keep those little guys happy!

Thanks. I think the weather has made the switch to the home stretch. Tomatoes are hardening off and I just put the chezno peppers into their final 3 gallon pots. I am a little leery of getting some of these supers out too soon. Never messed with them before and hate to fall on my face now.

Garden will be almost completely planted in two weeks.
 
Looking great man! I made the mistake of planting out a bit too early, the good news is that I didn't loose anything, just got hit pretty hard with rain and wind, and when that stopped the temps dropped back down! If I would have waited another week I am sure thu would be prettier today, but you know the feeling I had.....must...plant....now!!!

Also, I have a few choc Bhuts growing and when they start producing I will shoot you a package with a handful. At least you can try em out and if you like them get some seeds out of it. They came from the pepper growing man and were pretty huge. I think the biggest one I had measured at like 3.5 or 4 inches. If I forget, just shoot me a message and remind me.

50 feet of new pickle fence along the back edge of the garden. Should be able to make a ton of hot garlic dills this year with many different kinds of hot peppers.

Good work, Bo! Now I have to work twice as hard to restrain
myself from planting out too soon. Will enjoy watching that
garden space come alive this summer!

I will get some pics up soon. That big garden in the back is 4 rows of tomatoes, and the rest is all pepper plants. Except for a green bean row between the maters and peppers.

Chenzo peppers are black, resisting the urge to pop a fresh pepper until they turn red, but I don't think I can make it that long. I believe a chezno omelet is not too far off. With sausage and some sharp cheddar of course.

People at work are already asking about bringing salsa in. This year, they are going to have to supply the scoop chips. I hope to rock their taste buds!!!

Butch T peppers are coming out of their sunburn. This heat is something else and no rain. Watering a ton right now.

Finally gave up and picked off a Chenzo pepper. Going into an omelet tonight. Hopefully they are as good as I think they will be.

Wow, 50-ft of pickle fence!!! Based on your recco, I just put (2 each) National Pickling cucumber transplants in the ground, have dill sprouting, tons of garlic! Can't wait to combo that up with some peppas... :cool:
 
The budapest is a Hungarian type pepper. Anxious to give it a try, but really anxious for the Bulgarian Carrot and Lemon Drop.

Here is a desription I just looked up.

A Hungarian Wax type, extremely well suited for frying, pickling and stuffing. Large, 8" long fruits measure a hefty 1-1/2" across, maturing from light yellow to bright red-harvest when fully mature for best flavor. Flesh has a spicy tang that is distinctive but not too hot, making this variety very versatile in the kitchen. Cold-sensitive plants should be protected from any chance of frost.

63 days. Capsicum annuum. (F1) Plant produces heavy yields of 8" long x 1 ¼" wide banana shaped hot peppers. Peppers turn from light yellow to bright red when mature. Plant has green stems, green leaves, and white flowers. A great early maturing Hungarian Wax variety. Excellent for frying, pickling, or stuffing.

Thanks for the info. We have so many varieties of these Hungarian Wax varieties, that I am kind of lost. ;)
Regarding the recipe, I can confirm, it is just how my Mom prepares it, and I am sure you are going to love it! :onfire:
