Bronies - The scourge of the 21st century?

Hundreds of Bronies-- teenage and adult men who are fans of the animated TV series, "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" -- which you might know from the greatest New York Times correction ever--crammed into the Hotel Pennsylvania in midtown on Saturday for the 2012 Winter BronyCon.

According to Kase Wickman, there were chants of "P-O-N-I-E-S! What does that spell? Ponies!" and NeighSlayer, "Ponyville’s Hottest Metal Band!" was scheduled to play. There were academic panels, fan art and MLP vendors. Pegasisters (female bronies) were part of the fun too.

Public fascination with this curious subculture helped contribute to BronyCon's biggest turnout ever. And according to Gawker, participants were "out and proud."

Time To Play magazine was on hand to interview the excited Bronies, many of whom were in costume. When asked why BronyCon has grown in popularity, a man dressed up as Big Macintosh (Applejack's big brother) responds, "I think it's mostly because the show breeds friendship and happiness. It's something that hasn't been on television very long. It teaches good life lessons and it's something people like to get behind."

Anyone else find it disturbing that a cartoon geared for young girls has been embraced by adult males known as "bronies"? I can't help but find it downright creepy, personally.

I'm sick to death of hearing about them. Please don't talk about bronies here.

I'm sick to death of them too. But I still feel that this should be discussed. Bronies have infiltrated the other online communities I have been involved in, and I don't want the same to happen on here.

Friends don't let friends become bronies.

It seems that they have only infiltrated here because of YOU. What is in common between these other communities and this one? YOU! I honestly cannot believe that you GUYS are interested in this but hey, to each their own. Personally I prefer motorcycles but hey, if you want to ride a rainbow pony then go for it.

Wow! So let me get this straight. You haven't even been on any of these other online forums I'm speaking of -- hell, you probably don't even know anything about these other communities -- but you are outright blaming me for the bronies that are there? Assume much?

I don't care if you're a mod on here either. If you jump on my case with some false accusations, don't be surprised when I call you on it.

Nope, I have never heard of it till now and a site search turns up only this thread which means my accusations were indeed true. In reality I was messing around with you but apparently you took it to heart... Not my problem. You also do not need to show us your pony tattoo Lighten up a little bit and learn to take a joke. It is the internet after all.

Why would you spread it here, and link that horrible video then?
Most people that bring up the subject are bronies.
you said yourself you want discussion on the subject?
WHY!?
Only bronies say that.

Did it ever cross your mind that I started this thread to find out if this forum is full of bronies, so that I could keep my distance from it? I've seen what happens with other online communities that are full of them, and I avoid them like the plague.

Thankfully, thus far, it doesn't seem like THP has that problem.

I come from the deep dark recesses of the internet, I know how bronies bring the topic up, ie exactly like you did.

You sound like quite the expert on bronies. Maybe it is you who is the pony loving freak here.

If you are not a bronie prove it. The only way you could is to let this thread die by not defending the thread by further posting in it.
If you don;t post again, and no one else does, then that proves it.
If other people do to support your case, you could PM them and live your secret brony life with them and still prove me wrong and get the last laugh I guess with committing the 'perfect bronie forum crime'. What have you got to lose?

LOL. I don't have to prove anything. If you think I'm a brony because of a few posts on this forum, then your deductive reasoning skills need some serious work.

Your first response had a bunch of exclamation points, which are usually interpreted as yelling. If your post was an attempt at a joke, then you should've included an emoticon to clue me in to that. Words alone on a computer screen don't really convey humor all that well.

Little dancing banana wasn't clue enough? Stick around for a good bit and you learn people's senses of humor. Alas, there are no "Bronies" on this site thus this thread is useless and needs to die.

Nevermind. I'm just gonna let this one die, as requested.
