Ground chuck and sausage burgers with salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, and Mae Ploy sauce.  I cooked them on my charcoal grill with mesquite.  Sauteed onions and mushrooms, baby swiss cheese and Pex 7pot Primo Jelly on mine, onions and mushrooms with American on hers.  All on Martin's rolls.  Bangin'!

I am not an advocate however not too opposed to grilled/gas/charcoal/wood fired burgers.
 
I am such a bastige for CI or the flat top.

I would bet that more folks like your style of burger much more than mine.
 
I'd also bet that backyard style burgers are more popular than most every style.

Jay didn't say what kind of sausage so I'm assuming just plain pork sausage.
 
And not my favorite.
 
Getting into smashed meatball/meatloaf territory with that...
 
although I did myself venture into that territory with my own posting of 
 
pork chorizo burgers.

TB I flavored the mix with s&p garlic oregano and Mae Ploy. I know you can appreciate that. There is something about well seasoned burgers cooked over charcoal and wood that I just love. I know it isn't the beefy flavor you get from your flatty, but it is equally awesome in a "like when I was a kid, dad's burgers" kind of way. Trust.
