This stuff made one awesome French Dip I tell ya!  I am tired of the onion soup now, so its just going to be a roast beef sammich.  Maybe I'll make it into a Shifter.  I gotta tell you guys about Shifters sometime.

Ok, I'll do it here.  A Shifter is a piled high sandwich for the workers getting off of the night shift in Columbia, PA back in the 60's.  These were factory workers, and the sandwich was two pieces of white bread, mayonnaise, a heaping pile of ham (or in my case roast beef), American cheese, lettuce tomato, onion, sweet pickles.

Perhaps, it is something of local legend here.
 
To me the keys are a thick portion of meat, lots of mayo and the sweet pickles.  That is what makes a great shifter.  There is a place here doing it right.  Next time I go there and get one, I'll post a pic.
