CaneDog - Off-Season Season 2018/19

Thought I'd post a few pics of what I have going on indoors this off-season.  I used to do a winter indoor grow about every season, but this will be my first in a couple years now.  I went a bit over-board with the number of plants, as usual, but I've culled a few already and I have expansion room if needed.

I'm using a handy little extra walk-in closet to start things out. Keeps temp well and makes it easy to chill and work with the plants.

Most everything's potted up into 1g Boxer Browns now.  Here's a few of this season's players.

Bhut Jolokia White - topped it early on as it was already wanting to branch like crazy

Kathumby starting to bud up

And this guy is a 7 Pot White that sprouted late right up against another plant, so I yanked it out.  It had what seemed like only about 2mm of root still attached, but I stuck it in Kratky and it not only survived but seems fairly happy.

Edit - Page toppa .....booooyah

Props on the PT!

Mainly it makes watering so much easier.  I find watering indoors to be a pain with always reaching around plants and having low leaves block the water and it ending up on the table, etc.

Basically, with this you fill it with a gallon or more of water, nutes (chemical rated), whatever.  Pump it to pressurize and then you can deliver water via the wand right to where you want it to go.  I can reach past 2 rows of plants, snake it through some low bushy leaves and deliver water into a small pot without having to dig the plant out to access it. It uses a controllable spray tip versus pouring water, so it's easier on the soil with less compaction and more even distribution - works well with seedlings when you need to be careful if you pulse it instead of holding it on steadily.  You can also remove the spray tip to make it pour out the end instead of spray.  It's great for foliar feeding too. Plus when I bought mine a couple/few seasons back I got 2 for about $10 each.  Unfortunately, the last I saw they were twice that.

Hmm very cool...I see them all the time in the summer when the wife and I are out at yard sales. Never really thought about using them for that, very good idea.

My white bhuts produced a ton of pods last year.

That's awesome.  I'm hoping for the same with this one. It's a good strong bushy compact plant and looks like it has the energy to produce.

How did you find you liked the pods?  I haven't grown BJW in long enough I don't remember how I used them.  Grew this one mainly to revitalize my old seeds.

A cold beer? It is suppose to be an empty case, with you passed out in a barcalounger! Zeus, everyone knows this.

Thought I'd post a shot of the main table, which is amazingly clear right now with a bunch of plants in the shower after getting a minor flush.

I can't explain why there isn't a cold beer on that table right now, given that it is 5:00pm, I can only promise to try to do better next time.

I probably didn't try any fresh, fresh pods mess me up. I'd say they are more like a habanero than a ghost. The ghost white w strain had pods that were more like a Bhut. I want to try pepper specific sauces this year. I mainly just put like colored pods together and froze them last year.

Oh man, that bhut looks great! Can't wait to see those pods. The white would be nice too, but the Solid Gold is something I really want to try. I guess it'll depend on whether I like the normal ones, which I haven't even tried before.

Really hoping you can get it together on that beer, though.

The color combined with the bumpiness of the pods creates a cool metallic sheen look in some of those solid gold pics.  I imagine the pods look really impressive and stand out on a dark green pepper plant.

Yeah, the beer thing.  I'll get that figured out.  :banghead:

Hmm.  Will be interesting to see how these BJW's turn out.  I like your idea of working with pepper-specific sauces.  Can only help you to improve your awareness of the sometimes subtle differences in flavors and become better at matching ingredients.  Something I need a lot more work with.  I'll be growing a good # of different varieties this summer with only a couple plants of each, so if I can avoid getting lazy during the harvest perhaps I can try some of the same.

Beautiful plants bro, I cant say Im not looking forward to the solid gold Bhuts this year. Cant freaking wait
Curious how the whites taste too lol a little

Thanks man.  I had to bounce over and look at your list again to remember what specifically you were growing - I only remembered it was a bhut-load.

That WM is a sweet plant and I'd expect the JPGS x BOC could have some real potential.  Should be really cool to see - and taste - all those varieties side-by-side.

I hope the rest of your project turns out as
great as that White Bhut Jolokia. that's one
beautiful plant!
