CAPCOMS COCOA GROW 2017

I am starting early this year. maybe 3-4 weeks left here for outdoor growing and it will be time to put most of it to rest. I will be bringing a few plants indoors for the winter and as such, my seed starts my be more restricted this year. Lots of white flies showing up this fall and I would like to check them before the indoor retreat. Aphids? Yeah, they may hitch a ride but they are of no concern to me.

Big changes to next years grow. going to container grow again, but I am upgrading to 10 and 15 gal pots. haven't decided which yet though. 10s are wider and 15 gal are deeper.

I will continue using Nectar for the Gods nutrient line as it has not let me down and I am making inquiries as to setting up a tea making process as well.

My seed starts will be determined by what varieties I can obtain in the next few months and my inventory. I will post a list of them shortly, as well as my extended grow plants.

Oh, why cocoa grow 2017? cause 95% of my grow this coming year is going to be chocolates. So I will be looking for anything and everything chocolate and high heat is of no concern.

They will be that big next year. I am going to be very selective. Maybe 30 plants. They may be in 3 gal pots by the time I begin hardening off. 15 and 20 gal for grow out.

Updated and lined through @ acquisition.
I still need a few on the list and anything someone might point out that I missed.

Thx John, That would be pretty awesome. Always looking for more chocolate varieties.

Nice going - the chocolates are some of my favorite powders.

Have fun growing all those brown beauties out!

I have tried several chocolate scotch bonnets from the trains, they never end up being chocolate though. Always reds or yellows. Finally got fed up wasting the space and time. Might have the others mentioned.
I am really curious what a good chocolate bonet would taste like.

I found some Yaki brown, sepia serpent, BBM and chocolate scotch bonnets from 2 different sources.

Chocolate Borg 9, Chocolate reaper and their variants elude me still.

As you can see, compared to past years. I have cut way back.

I just got great news that will effect my grow plans in a huge way. I have been using sunshine and Pro-mix soils since the beginning of last season. Given a choice I would go Pro-mix. But that's not what I will be filling my 15 gal containers with this year. Nope nope nope. I just locked in 12- 3.8 cu ft bails of sunshine @ $26.00 PER BAIL!
This is F-in huge for one with limited funds.

Picked up 4 bales today....FROZEN SOLID huge savings though...like CAP said...when on a budget, gotta get it when you can

good luck this season!

Those choc's always seem to get my attention! And congrats on the Sunshine ;)

Thanks for the bidding of good luck. I am seeing a few minor setbacks in the germination area but have been in contact with another member that has essentially come to the rescue. All I need now to complete the grow list is chocolate reaper. Guess I'll have to go to the source and see if he has any.

While I am disappointed in not being able to capture the pink unicorn aka chocolate reaper, I am very happy with a significant influx of varieties and crosses to suddenly show up in my mailbox. I will update my grow list accordingly shortly.

Things are getting very interesting. Chocolate bonnets! Where do we start? I have one var sowed and another on the way. The one enroute looks like chocolate MOAs. I am also expecting some very intense pods this year in the superhot class. Heat wise as well as in flavor.

I will be picking up grow containers and 12 bails of sunshine after 3rd of next month.
On a more current note I will be transplanting some of this years first offerings to solo cups this weekend. I am hopeful to have my entire grow in 1 gal containers by end of March.
