this is the last fresh pod test of the season, so made it an Aussie named 1.. the Tasmanian Habanero it is also special for another reason.

these are cool, got them couple yrs ago from John chiliman.biz (think is his site)didnt grow them till this season though, he lives up the rd an Hr or so away and this is his no.2 Tassie Hab as it changes from green to red, the no1 changes from a blackish to red,,they are from somewhere in the caribbean and the plants are thinish stemmed and the leaves are also thinish so it sort of looks bushy and mine are bout 70 cm or so , but only put in ground a few months ago and think they will get taller..

They Have the Bizzarrish taste, almost straight away the heat hits and itsa capsicumy taste then a sweetish tasts melts with.. after a little bit it tastes salty ? completley Weird But Novacastrian was here so had 1 too in the Vid. Hot Yes pretty Hot and a great burn.

Grew the Blackish version(No.1) of his last year and had very similar taste to them. Pretty hot and very prolific too!

Great video as usual. I remember back when PepperJoe introduced the Tasmanian hab as their exclusive way back when. I just always wondered why they were called Tasmanian and why they were called habs, but I guess thats a whole other discussion:)

Just found these and I hope to try them this summer.  When looking at the shape, the first thing that came to mind was the Trinidad Perfume pod shape.  Cool shaped pods.
 
Watched your review on youtube and that really makes me want to try it more.

I know this is an old thread but I found it trying to figure out what this pepper could be. It was bought at a local nursery labeled Habanero.
Does anyone know what it could be or what it could've crossed with?  It has a Hab smell and it's oily with heat all at once in the beginning. I can't explain the taste, it's not a strong Hab flavor but similar.

There's just no telling what it crossed with.
I had a similar experience several years ago and the taste of the fruit reminded me of burning plastic.
 
I wanted to add that this is a Bonnies plant and was told by someone that Bonnies crossed a Hab with some type of Naga to increase the heat. I also found other people that had the same pepper shape so it's a Bonnies thing. 
 
Thanks for that link, it confirms what someone told me about Bonnies doing a cross but I still think it's wrong. I found this and think it's what is growing but I'm not sure. It looks like Habanero Adalberto, here's the link

"ultra hot" is what I call peppers that I deem in a hotter category than "super hots"...
 
**edit: oops didn't realize how old the post was.
 
I occasionally see orange habs with this shape at local grocery stores. Bought a few once when I was out of fresh pods. They seemed to be very thinned walled and were lacking in heat and flavor. I didn't bother saving any seeds from those pods.
