hot-sauce Cholula Hot Sauce

can anyone here provide a review of Cholula Hot Sauce. I've heard of this before and I saw bottles of it in a movie on TV last night, now I've found an online store in Oz that sells it (usafoods.com.au) so I now feel that I must try it but I don't want to waste my money if it's no good. it doesn't look like it packs a lot of heat but that is easily fixed, as long as it's nice and tasty etc.

It's actually pritty good for a main stream sauce. I've enjoyed it over the years. It goes great on burritos!!!

I don't think you'd waste your money if you baught it.

I practically drink the stuff. Very tasty but not real hot. When I want more heat I use my own jalapeno or hab sauce. I got some pequin seeds to grow because of Cholula..and to make something similar. Love the flavor.
Cheers, TB.

Not hot a tall, I'd say the best sauce to start off on if you're not used to hot things. A good sauce if you don't like lots of garlic. It's thin with a very smooth consistency. It's really cheap in the UK and can be found in nearly every supermarket in small and big bottles.

I love really hot sauces and in fact make my own tabasco-style sauce out of habaneros so I enjoy a lot of heat but I do like flavoursome sauces also. this just seems like one of those sauces I MUST try.

It tastes like taco seasoning but in a good way, very mild stuff but easy to use. the fruit and veg shopupthe road sells it for a $1.50 a bottle so don't pay too much through a specialty shop.

The main reason my wife got it was because she like the wooden lid. and the cool spanish mexican woman on the label art.

that is a lot cheaper than the online store I found it at. maybe I should keep looking for somewhere local that has it. thanks Mick.

how does 12oz/340gm for $9.99 (excluding postage) sound? normal Tabasco bottles are about 2oz/60ml I think. probably not a bad price if I get a few items to spread out the postage cost.

They actually sell 5 different sizes of it. The one your looking at C64 is the middle one. The biggest bottle I've seen in the UK is 5 fl oz and that would cost around 4 of your dollars.

Does not sound like a deal!!!!!

I like it pretty well and would not pay more than $3.50 for a 12 oz bottle.

It is not nearly as hot as tabasco. Someone that uses 5 or 6 drops of tabasco would use a tablespoon of cholula.

It is on the table at every mexican restaraunt here. They are not $10 bottles of sauce I guarantee it.

Good luck with that. Cholula uses pretty much the same process as Tabasco. Pequin peppers (like tabasco peppers) actually pack a good punch. If you sauce some up without doing some kind of mash process, yours will be considerably hotter.

I'd send you bottles for all of you for some of that naga jerky you were talking about (if it could make it through customs) :banghead:

The actual flavor of it is pretty good but no heat. I like it because I HATE vinegar and alot of sauces use too much of it and this sauce doesnt.

I'm going to just agree with everyone else here. Nice flavor, minimal heat. Goes well with Mexican food, although I might just be saying that because that's the only type of restaurant I've ever used it at.
