Ok, so i have had a rough year this time. I ended up tilling a garden a tad late(i started my plants early) and i was moving the plants from the garage to the sun to get them used to it, well when it came time to plant almost all of my plants burnt. it killed a few, but mostly stunted the growth of them. Then since this was the first year for me to have a garden and being in the rush i was i didnt get to prep it like i wanted. so i tilled it, and now the grass is just growing right back. I have tried to keep the grass under control, but its hard to weed grass. anyway so excuse the crappy garden. This fall i am going to prep, fertilize and tarp the entire garden to kill the grass. so maybe next year this wont happen. (also i will get my plants out earlier to get them used to the sun more.

anyway. enough babbling. dont laugh as this is my first major grow.

Ok the garden(pepper side)

Like i said i am having a rough year...makes me mad too, because i got such a great start. Oh well better luck next year. Also birds killed my lemon drops(well 3 of the 5) then i replanted some only for slugs to eat the 3, 4 inch plants all up....

Your plants look nice and green.

You might consider buying a 100'x4' roll of landscape fabric and splitting it to 2' by cutting it in half with a sharp knife while it's still packaged in the roll. Place that between your rows and cover with mulch; grass problem solved. Two feet was a guess but from your pics I'd say that was a close estimate.

You still have some growing time left Cody so don't give up yet. Other than a little short they look very healthy. You might try hitting them with a high nitrogen fert to get them growing again but wait for some other opinions. Miracle Grow comes to mind. You could try it on a couple to see what happens.

You'll still get some peppers so keep the faith dude.

Looking good. Looks like youve got a good spot. I tried putting a few out in the yard like that and they roasted. Just too hot here for a full days sun. I have em in the shade a touch now and am setting up shade cloths on the patio and row covers.

Just an idea..... Probably not the most aesthetic looking, but you could lay some wood planks in between the rows and "choke" out the grass. That or like mentioned above, get a bed liner that you can fit to form the garden and steak it down. 2 birds one stone. insulate plants and regulate soil temp and get rid of grass.

Great pod pics. Lookin tasty!

Yeah, i think im just going to deal with the grass this year....this fall i will do a proper prep. And Patrick, i think my soil in lacking nitrogen too. as my corn didnt get very tall either. my tomatoes are doing great though. I Did hit the plant with some chicken crap and water mix, so we will see how things work out. I havent given up, just disappointed with the way things turned out.

The sun did a number on the plants though, things like my jalepeno died, my riccoto's are still fried, but trying, and a few naga's are gone. Most are just not getting over there sun burn.

On a side note though...i have a ton of watermelon's, and green tomatoes though!

The sun is one unforgiving beast isn't it? Cody you did pretty darn good for your first year of pepper growing. I look back at my first year and my plants all reminded me of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. Funny now.
