Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

So my 2012-2013 season has offically come to a close.  All of my plants are now composting with the exception of one plant.  I picked the final 3 pods off of my 7 Pot Brown this weekend.  Potted the mother down to a 3 gallon pot and gave her a haircut.  She's in her new home for the winter.  Crossing my fingers as this is my first time to try overwintering a plant.

I will be back on in a bit to post my grow list for 2014.

There won't be much activity on this glog until mid-late January.  That's when I'll be starting my Chinenses.

Stay tuned...

Babies are coming along nicely B . When is your plant out time ? Late May I would assume  :fireball:

You got it Jamie.  Mid to late May is the typical time.  I usually try to shoot for after Mother's Day.

Growth is starting to pick up quite nicely in the large tray of plants.  That's the tray with mostly annuums so it makes sense.  Plants generally seem happy.  I'm seeing some slight edema showing up, so I've upped the amount of fan time they get, in order to keep air flow at a good level.  I've potted up all the rest of the giveaways.  There are no longer any in the 72 cell starters.

Back tray (there's a marigold growing in there too, got it from the local hydro shop, the shop keep gave it as a present to my oldest daughter):

I just realized it's been a while since I posted a pic of Mama Brown.  She doesn't look much different from the last pic, but that's because I had to give here a hair cut.  She was growing too big.  Between the last pic and this pic, I've cut off about 8-10 inches in growth.

Brian  I like the layout you have, plenty of room for the plants to breathe and also receive light into the canopy. The ow looks cool, in the future you might want to  train the branches laterally with doll rods rather than chopping the length off them. It's getting closer to the plant out and more nodes means more flowers . No sweat though, last year I had a hail damaged plant that was reduced to a twig. It was one of 3 Reapers that I had in the early spring. A friend wanted that Charlie Brown looking thing and it bounced back and produced loads of pods. I'm not to thrilled anymore about getting such an early start indoors...sometimes the brakes have to be put on a vigorous plant and that can hinder it. Your plants have a good look to them with the size containers they're in. Best of luck getting some heapy harvests.

Thanks Greg!  That is a good idea about training the branches laterally.  I'll have to try that out next year.  I'm not too worried about hindering her progress though.  She's already putting out new leaves at the sites I cut and I'm sure it will result in a more bushy plant.  I also still have about 4 weeks before she goes outside.  I'm also going to pot her up to a 15 gallon root pouch after I've hardened her off.  She should have plenty of room to grow.  I'm expecting her to get REALLY big this year.  Thanks for the excellent advice and words of encouragement my friend!

Update time!.  Growth continues to happen at a great pace.  My annuums are all almost 6 inches tall now.  Many are producing their first flower buds, and most are starting to fork.  The remainder of my plants are also growing nicely as well.  I'm starting to feel the pressure of overcrowding now.  I might have to drop all the plants down to the floor and have them sit outside of their trays.  I know I'll lose light intensity by doing so, but it seems I may have no other alternative.

Its been gorgeous here the past few days, we could be outside without a jacket, drinks on the deck, and yesterday we got hit with about 4 1/2 inches of snow. ....I added pics in my glog.

Just had a look at your glog.  Wonderful setup you have in your backyard!  You've got another follower!

Nice update Brian. Plants all look healthy.

Those are the smallest grow bags I have seen. Where did you get them? I wouldn't mind having a bunch at that size. It would keep the plants from getting rootbound in late spring, for sure.

Thanks Jeff.  They are 1 quart root pouches.  I got them from Greenhouse Megastore.  I've yet to find a place that has better prices (even with shipping included) on root pouches.

Things continue to grow nicely.  I ended up removing the plants from the small trays and placing them on the ground.  My tallest plant right now is an Orchid/Bhishop's Hat.  It is around 10 inches tall right now.  Getting excited as I'm only a week and a half out from hardening them off.
