Ok, I'm happy to say it's still quite possible that IGG got tagged by a Brown Recluse. They are found all over Cali. Some of the ones used in a study I'm reading were caught in downtown L.A.
Ahh...the evidence presented in that report does little to shed light on the venom remaining in the body. Additionally, the only loxocelas reclusa tested came from Mississippi. The two that came from California were the loxoceles deserta and the loxoceles laeta which was found in Los Angeles and native to South America. Most likely the SIQ (spider in question) as pertains to Passow is the loxoceles laeta, not in fact the recluse but a close cousin.
I therefore amend my earlier assertion from Patrick FAIL to Patrick Pending FAIL upon further review of any and all incoming evidence...i.e. the jury is still out and further research is necessary in conjunction with a number of bottles of tequila being consumed.
