Devv-2017-Having a good time in the dirt

Another season has come and gone. Time to start a new one!

Although I did already a few weeks ago :shh: . After last years dismal (late) start I jumped in a bit early to insure I could have viable plants come dirt day. I can always cut them back, if I need to. I have to compile a list yet, but I'm growing the full spectrum. Sweets, to supers, based upon what we will actually use. Most of my list is to make LB happy; I'm really glad to see her infuse peppers in more and more dishes. Can't beat that when the wife takes interest ;)

Not the best pic; but the shelf is being sketchy, and I don't need all the babies bouncing off the floor.

Good luck to all this season

Things are coming around. I can't wait to see what comes in a couple months.
Glad to hear the system is up and running.

BOC's looking great. Taste even better. LOL

All caught up my friend. Thanks for sharing. Have a safe wonderful time out there.

Oh, that's good to hear LB is cooking with peppers.

Thanks Chuck!

The system worked just fine, nothing suffered while we were gone. Actually they look better then before we left. ;)  Funny thing is they are flowering in this crazy heat. Now will they set? That would be cool ;)

I haven't had the time to try a BOC yet, but will this weekend!

I have some seeds saved from the early Scotchbrains for you. Will get them out after the drying time.

As for LB cooking with peppers, she's using the fresh ones and the powder we've been making. She made a killer shrimp scampi from scratch with some fresh white bhut added. I'll be asking for that very soon :P

Another grower who is smashing it , some great looking pods Scott , love the scotch brains, looks like your BOC is producing really well and nice sized pods ...

giving you a high 5 and a hell yeah ;)

Thanks Sim!

I had a slow start (very), bhut things kicked in nicely ;)  I really was worried! In 6 or 7 weeks things cool off and the gals that make it will just explode. We just need to get past this 3 digit weather.

I'm really impressed with the new tries this year, the P Dreadie's, B.O.C's, and the ScotchBrains. And let's not forget the Pubes. I know Chuck, Gary, and Dale sent me fantastic true seeds. :P

Mertle Beach.I did my AIT in the army at ft Jackson in Columbia SC.I would have rather gone to the beach.lol

Hey Randy!

We stayed at Mom's new house. She just had it built, and moved in there in early June. Walk out the front door, go 2 houses down, turn right, cross the next street and you're on the beach. My parents kill me; both are 82 and have new homes in the Myrtle Beach area. One nice thing is one less trip, as I no longer have the fly into Las Vegas to visit Mom ;)

Everything is looking great Scott! I'm jealous of that free RCW...and I gotta love those bright, beautiful BOCs!!! So fun to grow, and it produces like crazy...It's been my go-to super hot for 4 years now... :drooling:

Thanks Gary!

And thanks for the seeds! Both the P. Deadie and the B.O.C.'s love it here ;) And yes, it's really fun to grow plants that excel!

I'm doing something a bit different with the RCW. I have two raised rows like you plant in using the RCW. But most the rest of the garden (40x40') is digesting over 100 yards of re-ground mature RCW, via a chipper, that I tilled in over the last 2 winters. I'm seeing the results, finally. Now I have 3-4"s of the re-ground RCW added on top of that 40x40' space, which I added in the spring. Most of it is now a fine dark powder. I will no longer till it, and will use a broad-fork I made to loosen the areas I intend to plant next season.

Gotta love Medina county and the free RCW they offer. I did give the guy who loads it some pepper plants this spring, and he will get lots more next spring!

Back! Well until next Friday morning. When we leave again to visit LB's side of the mix.

The garden not only survived our 6 day trip, it thrived, despite the 100° temps. I see a ton of new flowers, and the bee's are busy! We had a modest late July haul upon our return.

I'll have a proper update this weekend. Right now, trying to get back into the work thang. No fun there....LOL

Nice pull, Scott! I see some great colors in there, but that white one has my attention. Every white variety that I've grown always turns out yellow-ish. That's a nice bright white! Stunning!
