Diablo's Green Thumb

That's good lookin out on BigT and Potawie's part. I shouldn't have just pasted the whole thing with out further input. I didn't go that aggressive like spraying it every time I turned around. And I definitely agree that product rotation is key.

@boutros don't sweat it man, I was planning on going half dose anyhow. I kind of like mother nature to take care of itself. I'm still trying to have a harvest though so if I have to go to the guns then I have to go to the guns....

6/08/09 Update

I pinched this bud.

3609123215_170e2dd728.jpg

I have pinched maybe 10 buds so far. Based on how much longer the growing season will be, I think this will be the last time I pinch. I was also waiting for when buds started to sprout all over the plant. Which they have. I also up potted the last three into 5 gal pots. Base on the the Tequila Sunrise looks like, I can say that 2 of the last 3 I potted are Tequila Sunrise. One thing that is killing me is not knowing if any of them at all are the Pequin, none of the 2nd batch that I planted,, sprouted. :( I know for sure, there are a whole bunch of Fresno's, a few of them look different enough to maybe be the Pequin, I won't get my hopes up though.

Habanero
It's pretty cool to see how fast the buds develop. I'll be pinching these this afternoon.

Big Loner
The largest limb visible has a close up. The plant decided to abort half of the fork that was starting to grow. I might have damaged it removing a bud, but I don't recall that. Still a possibility though.

Here is the close up. On the right is the side of the fork that did not get aborted, on the left that little black nib is the aborted fork. On the left and in the back is are leaves.

Suspected Pequin

Suspect Pequin

This plant is the only one showing this degree of coloring on the stem and branches. The growing patterns of the lower branches, slower than Fresno plant and nothing like the Tequila Sunrise, makes me think this might be my sole Pequin representative.

3623655726_a7b8b7218c.jpg

This is the growth that takes it out of the Tequila Sunrise possibility. It is possible that this could be a Fresno, the Fresno has the same look to the top forking. The Fresno has not shown this kind of coloring to the stems and branches though.

Here is the Habanero post pinching and neeming.

Here is my pinching tool, the match of death for the worms and the pinched buds off the Habanero. I pinched 10 buds, two of them are not shown cause they fell into the dense cover of the bottom of the plant.

Update 6/19/09

Habanero
This thing is growing incredibly big and fast. I saw a friend of a friends habanero in their back yard, not a foot tall, budding like crazy and bushy. When I stop pinching this one and it goes into full podding mode, look out. I just pinched 12 buds off yesterday. I'm looking for that 3rd fork to really develop before I stop pinching. Looks like this will be the last time I pinch.

Update 6/19/09

Five Group
This is one of the five group. I've let this one bud at will now since earlier this week. It's going to be ahead of all the others. I'm seeing what kind of difference it might make on growth of the plant and yield. I'll probably keep track of each plant and how much each plant yields.

6/19/09 Notes on today

I'm trying to bring up the plants in the crappy soil by adding a bit of epsom salt. In the same mix/dose I had a half dose of neem and about a tablespoon of epsom. All the plants got a dose of the epsom. I'm a little worried that the plants in the good soil don't need the dose of epsom. We'll see how things go. Not long after the foliar feeding all the plants seemed to develop brighter green veins. We'll see if this is the leaves responding to the feeding with a rush of growth.

7/03/09 Update

Here is the new group shot. The umbrella is what I had to use to keep the heat off the pots. Turns out the pots were getting too hot and making the plant wilt.

Some good bloom shots of the plant I let get ahead of the rest.

Habanero

Ever since I moved this plant out of the sun it's doing much better. The growth is much better and it's starting to fill out. It suffered from major leaf drop and became rather scraggly. It's looking much better now.

More pics of the Habanero

If the picture looks foggy to you, it's cause it is. Actually, smokey. I'm smoking some ribs and a butt. Yum. This is a slightly better pic than the other one I showed for the Habanero.

You can see all the newer growth areas.

Thanks dude! Yeah, I think I got a good grip on it. I think the only thing I'm worried about is not enough sun actually. I had to put them in the shade cause the pots were getting to hot and they were wilting pretty badly cause the roots were hot. Ever since I put them under one of those outdoor umbrella shades they've been doing really well. One of those fabrics that probably blocks 50% light or maybe even more. So at this point I'm just wondering if they the shade is too much. But I think they are fine we'll just wait and see.

How's things in SD dude? I have a piece of property in Riverside that I go to clean up, small ass stupid little piece of dirt that is unbuildable. Anyhow, one of these weekends coming up maybe I'll give you holler and we'll see what we can eat on the chili side down in SD? Be a while still but you know, just throwing it out there.
