Did I get lucky and grow a Bhut Jolokia???

I originally had this plant labeled as a Fatali, but Google image searches suggest otherwise, what do ya'll think?

It's about 3.5" long, 3/4" in diameter and quite bumpy. I have about 5 on the plant so I am happy no matter what they are.

This plant is labeled Yellow 7-Pot, yes or no?

It's about 1.75" in diameter. I was thinking Trinidad Scorpion but the bumps and the lack of the pecker look on the bottom say no.

Wow, I have no idea. Potawie or PRF or someone smart like that might be here soon to answer this...Either way they look gnarly!! :hell:
 
Sure looks like a Bhut to me. As for the yellow 7 it does look like a 7 but you're going to have to wait for it ripen to know if it's yellow. They are certainly looking very wicked right now. Best of luck to you.
 
Those bumps just scream pain!!!

I hope ya'll are right on, I want to get a bite of at least ONE superhot this year, makes me salivate when I type this :D
 
Nice pods, why would you want anything other than a Fatalii & Yellow 7 Pod, they both look true and you'll only know for sure if/when they turn yellow. My Fatalii usually are three sided almost triangle if you slice them, and the latter more 7 than scorpion looking so all looks good to me so far. I like pods that grow around a branch and change their shape. :crazy:
 
Any progress on these babies SV? Afraid I got a bit confused when I said it was a Bhut. Pretty sure it's a Fatalii. Sorry about that. Anyway you seeing any yellowing yet? If it's a fatalii it will ripen, turn yellow, from the top down. Kind of cool the way they do that.

As a matter of fact yes, I noticed one pod turning yellow from the top, so Fatalii?

And the bumpy look could be typical when growing open pollinated seeds, correct?
 
I say bhut and yellow 7 but it's hard to tell in the first pic, are they light lime green or dark green? If dark then not a bhut but maybe morich.
 
They are medium green, a little lighter than a bell. The pictures are in full sun but in complete shade from the plants. I will post updated pictures after they start changing, I just want to taste one :D

Maybe morich or just a knarly fatali which I haven't seen before.

I got home from work this afternoon and as usual, walked around the raised beds to look at the pods. One of these Fatali's was BRIGHT yellow so I plucked it from the plant and put it in my pocket. The family was meeting for dinner to celebrate my cousins birthday and I sliced that baby up for everyone who was willing to taste.

We have a few like my oldest daughter who does not even like black pepper try it, a family friend and my oldest cousins girlfriend. Almost everybody agreed it had a great taste, very much citrus like but too much heat for 4 out of 10. I thought it was more mild than the Orange Hab's we had yesterday and I was quite pleased although I thought the heat would surpass the Habs.

I want to try the Fatali followed by the Hab and vice versa, I think I might prefer the Fatali taste over the Hab's.

As far as heat, I still have those 7 Pot's to look forward to trying :D

Everyone I know who has tasted a Fatalii says the same thing--love the flavor. It's probably one of the most popular hot peppers out there. I'm sure there are some folks who would love to trade you some Bhut Jolokias for some of the Fataliis.

Congrats on trying your first home grown one too. Hard to beat that.
