DIY rat hammocks?
546812_4066954077614_1419558268_n.jpg

Never heard of a rat hammock either. Could have used one of those for a black rat that I used to babysit. He nibbled a hole in my duvet cover and had me wondering if it was really wrong to kill a rat. Fortunately for him, he was impossibly cute and cuddly so he got to go home without wearing a rat trap necklace!

Had a girlfriend in Highschool who's pet rat was stoner. Would walk from shoulder to shoulder following the pipe in the circle getting hot boxes from everyone. Cool guy I suppose.

My chicken shack

We have two old toilets in there for the nesting. Have 3 birds broody as we type they are all going on there third week tomorrow. Chicks will be chirping soon. Tried to get a pic or two of the inside but homeboy wasnt having it

Mr. Rooster is a real bastard.

Is this good enough for DIY?

Disclaimer: There was a couple hands other than mine here and there. But ya I did all that.

Can't imagine how beautiful it must be in person. Love the shape. Not at all familiar with that wood but the color of it would be perfect for something I've been thinking about making. Gives me ideas...

How much were you after?

It's just an idea. ;) I have in mind to try making unique display stands for some of the glasswork that I do. We recently moved here from Washington State so my equipment is in storage and it will likely be stored until obligations here are finished and we're free to move again. Guess I could try carving. How did you make the scaler?

The mega grinder

Fingers are safe

The Top bar hive

Did I mention I jacked my house up 7 feet to get above the 100 year flood.  Here it was just jacked up and let down on the block.

This is the neighbors mailbox on a good flood.

This is the deck and screened porch after jacking it up.

Then came the aquaponics

They needed some shade

And a GH

The GH was the ticket to getting things going

The germination chamber was new this year.  I wanted to take advantage of natural light and solar gain to start seeds instead of building a rack with lights.

The rock garden is a work in progress.  The little front yard will be all rock and no mowing eventually.

Screened porch for the hunting trailer

I'll stop there for now

Ohhh and the camper sprung a leak and rotted out the floor.  I had to totally rebuild the back end.  Time for a real shower and a mans throne.  If you have ever spent a month in a camper for and all out hunt you would appreciate this.

Wood that washes up in the yard.  Polished it up.

Concrete countertops were cast upside down and diamond polished.  All the cabinets were from a demo job.

Thanks STH, it's Merbau. Unfortunately the photos don't do it justice.

Damn! That's some awesome workmanship! I love the contour of the handles, nice carving!
Also both of the blades are very symmetrical, which was not easy at all on that scaler...
What is the wood coated with?  oil or sealer?

The Scaler was made by using an old broken plastic scaler I had as a template, this included the teeth/blade, then added my own improvements.

look familiar?

I used files and rasps mostly, as I prefer them over Dremels etc.. I find anything electric can somrtimes take off too much material and before it's too late you've ruined the piece.

The Scaler had quite a few coats of a Satin varnish. I feel the satin makes the wood still seem raw.

The Ab knife was sprayed with clear gloss spray paint, which was all I had at the time.

Good grief. It is beautiful! More, please.
You first STH, where is all this beautiful glass work we've been hearing so much about?
