Hello to all!!! I would like to make an easy hot sauce for my first time and try bottling some 5 oz woozies while im at it. So, how much should I make? I want it to be easy, but since Im not going to be making sauce all the time, i want to make enough to try bottling it too. I figure half gallon (64 ounces) is about 12 woozies. That sounds like a good amount to make to give away to friends or keep, play around w labels etc. Is this too much for my first attempt? Should i cut it down to 20 ounces? Or 10 ounces? Or ??? Lets say i do the 64 ounces, i am looking for an easy recipe that is definitely a safe, low ph. I like jalapenos maybe some veggies, limes maybe a fruit and lots of vinegar. Maybe some other kind of pepper if they dont have jalapeno. The recipes i see online, really say how to make it for one serving not for multiple or 64 ounces. So, what is a good amount to make that isnt overwhelming but enough to bottle a few woozies? Also, Can I buy all of the peppers I need at whole foods / any supermarket, or do i need so many I need to start getting involved with buying then online? (I Dont know how to guage how many peppers i need for 64 ounces)
I have searched The web and this website and allrecipes, etc, but have not found a recipe that lists the final amount in fluid ounces that I can then multiply to what I want.
Any tips on how much to make, and an example recipe for that amount, would be totally appreciated.
thank you everyone for the help!!!
Ps If you have any book or website recommendations I would be interested in those as well!
Thanks!
