First Garden, 2009

Thanks. One thing I learned this year that's really helped is to back off on the water. For awhile I was probably watering every other day, now it's been 3 weeks since I've watered but we've had some rain which has helped. Plants look great now, I know I was over watering for awhile and it wasn't helping. Can't wait for the first harvest!

Some updates, here are the Peruvian White Lightning Habanero:

Thanks everyone:)

Things have really progressed nicely over the past few weeks now that the weather is cooperating. In terms of space...next year will be a little better. I underestimated the size everything would reach this year. Although it's a little crowded it doesn't seem to impact production...looks like I'm in a for much better than expected yield this season.

Has anyone ever had the Peruvian White Lightning Habanero? I never have...ordered seeds for them this year on a whim. A friend of mine told me he thinks he's had them before and they tasted like dirt...but he's not 100% sure the Peruvian White Lightning Habanero is what he had. Can't really find much online about them either.

Grow on:hell:

I had a "white hab mild" that tasted like dirt a couple years ago.
Garden looks great. Yer soil looks healthy.
I personally wouldn't compare that beer to Uncle Sam. The beer actually makes you feel good about things.

So that's 2 votes for tastes like dirt...hopefully that's not the case with what I'm growing.

Agree, my sam adams / uncle sam comparison really is no comparison;)

Thanks. Some of my peppers are little purple, anyone know what causes that / is it a problem?

The tomatoes are some form of cherry tomato. My wife bought the seeds somewhere and I never saw the package so I'm not sure what specific type they are. What I do know is that I have hundreds of them...

Did a pod count this morning - 13 plants & 264 pods right now.

I have never had a bhut jolokia before. Even though they are likely weeks away from ripe still I picked one yesterday and sliced off a piece. I really like hot foods so it goes without saying I love the bhut's. Wow, even weeks away from ripe and they give a solid 20 minute burn and have a good taste. Good stuff.
