Free seed for X bucks S&H ???

Not offering.  Just pondering and want opinions.  Kind of fond of gifting seeds.  But it is about 50 cents for a bubble envelope and then about $3.00 S & H.  No clue what the labels, mini zip locks, and time if lots of folk take advantage of it would cost.The whole SASE seems stupid cause the a person pays that and the cost of getting the SASE to me.  So have been thinking about offering a free random selection of seeds in the PBM online store for like $4 / 5 and say it is on the honor system for folk who honestly cant afford to buy some.

Question: Would people think it a scam?

Not really worried about getting raped cause I could turn it off with a click if I get too may requests.

Thoughts?
 
You can use the half padded envelope on one side of the seed and free powder on the other side of the seeds. Like a seed sandwich in a small bag. In a envelope. Cost .99
 
The "pepper people are greatest" line I see around the site is no lie. I'm not new to growing edibles, but to exotic and superhot peppers, yeah. You guys and your obsession with gifting seed is amazingstunningshockingimpressiveinspiring.

That being said, my problem isn't being able to afford the seed, it's knowing what peppers I want to grow. I'm a flavor freak, gimme hot, as long as the heat TASTES good. Not all hot is created equal.

A database of peppers and their related flavor attfibutes would help me an awful lot. If I had a brain (I told AJ this in a pm) I would have bought SFRBs when the harvest was fresh and could make informed choices for seed. THERE ARE TOO MANY TYPES OF PEPPERS OUT THERE!!

If you are fond of gifting seeds then they should be free. A gift is free. If I have to pay 4 or 5 bucks for a gift then it isn't a gift. 
Don't put it on the honor system. How about a donation instead. If someone can not afford seeds then they may not take your offer. They would owe you money that they don't have and would have to break the "honor" part if they are really too poor to afford seeds. 
But, I feel that people appreciate something more when they invest something into it. 
Send them the seeds and ask them to pay whatever they feel it is worth to them. Sometimes you'll get more than $4/5.

Yeah...you gotta front them the seeds, and they sell the fresh pods after growing them out. And then they pay you for the seeds and then some.

But seriously, I think what's great already, is most times you buy seeds, you get a few freebies thrown in. If you can't even afford one seed packet, then you probably should be spending your money on other things.

Really seams different asking for money for free anything. I been you send me seeds I will return the favor that's my policy.

Those 10 seeds will repay 10 fold. I think its a case of wording. just need to say here have some seeds, just pay the shipping. No it isn't free , because money is coming out of your pocket but much is coming out of his because he has spent time and mucho mula farming the seeds. . He is not trying to make a buck. just sharing.

Wow! No she-ite! I've also watched a lot of Neil's vids at the Hippy Seed Comp'ny, I've got my work cut out. I'd like to find two or three varieties to keep alive and attain that special symbiotic relationship with, Favorites, don'tchaknow...  :mouthonfire:
