Well, it's a month into summer and looks like it's already time to start letting the season wind down. Got a
of dog here that is absolutely destroying everything (long story), fruit fly are in full swing and broad mite are making an appearance again. With the dog here for who knows how long, and how many plants it is going to destroy before it is gone, I don't know if it is worth spending good money on another release of Californicus. What's the point when chances are most of my plants aren't gonna make it anyway?
I will just treat mite affected plants with soap as they come. Not gonna go soap crazy on all my plants at this stage though as I don't want to wipe out the Californicus population that already exists!
I dunno... on the bright side, at least I will have more time to start making use of the bucketloads of frozen and dried pods I already have! Sauces, jams, powders and all of that. Despite the season turning to shit rapidly, it's still the best I've had so far.
What I have now should last me to next season easy.
Haven't posted any piccies in a while.....
Get the bad out of the way... broad mite damage
Including the Tovarii
Been managing to salvage some NOT Dorsets despite not bagging any. As most still have sting marks it seems I've been getting to the them first before the maggots hatch. I've then been dehydrating them at 60C to kill the eggs. Not sure what I'll use them for though as both the taste and heat isn't all that. Maybe powder for the non-superhot lovin' family and friends.....
Fruit fly food
Pritavit sweet. The fruit fly are having a field day with 'em! I've left it there as a distractant plant though which seems to be somewhat effective. It's right next to the Spanish Naga, which although is losing some fruit to fruit fly, I'm still pulling some unbagged good 'uns off too.
And speaking of the Spanish Naga, it's going off ATM!
Predicting I will lose
at least half of the unbagged pods to fruit fly, but hey, at least some will still end up in my tummy!
Another cool Waspie phenotype
And getting some ripe 'uns now
And lastly some more Bhut x PDN pods
Old man face
Thanks for looking!
You do wonders with that PowerShot A480, great looking pods!!!
Thanks Walk!
Great looking pods Gas!! Wish mine would start bulking out a bit as all of my pods except one, have so far been tiny. Tasty...but tiny! Im really hoping that they will start getting bigger sometime soon!
Thanks nee!
It's your first time growing, isn't it? For some reason I got a lot of small pods my first time growing too! (too much lovin' maybe....
) They eventually came good though. Hope yours do soon!
Little sealed baggies made from big ones, cut portions to size, seal/fuse the edges using a lighter with the rest of the material sandwiched between book pages. I can't believe I just explained that....LOL
Experience? lol
Not sure what generation it is but it's definitely not an F1. Got the seeds from Grant.
Keep it coming, Gassy. Those pods look great. Many, like the Butch T, are textbook phenotypes.
Thanks Doc! How's your new season coming along? I'll have to get over and check out your glog. (Been mega busy/slack over the last couple weeks!)
Funny how these turn out, all very different, but the smooth pod does seem to be a dominant trait, maybe it's linked to the dark coloring? I'm hoping that when I select my neyde x bhut f2 seedlings for dark coloring, one of them will come out with bumpy bhut pods...
By the way, do you generally only get one pod per node on these?
Yeah, now that you mention it, I am generally only getting one pod per node. Must be the annuum from the Neyde's side coming out or something!
That would be super cool if you ended up with a black Bhut looking thing!
Beautiful. I started soaking my seeds after I saw this... wasn't sure if I was going to grow it...
Have you grown the TS ButchT before? It produces a lot of variation in pod shape but you really do end up with some great lookin' ones! Good sturdy plant too. I love my ButchT!
Looking good gassy !! Hopefully that freaking dog has settled down today ....
Sadly, no such luck, Trips. Pretty much every time I go outside something new is destroyed. More plants, pods, pots, gardening equipment, you name it. And not to mention the perpetual yapping. Bloody thing keeps waking me up too while I've been trying to rest up on my (rare) days off. Got the neighbours yelling obscenities over the fence now too.
I won't tell you what I want to do to the mutt as I will have animal rights activists all over me!
