Gassy's 2012/2013 Glog thingy

Well, Spring has arrived here in the Land of Oz and it's all starting to happen. I thought I would quit being a lazy bones and start a glog this season. Even though I'm so far behind where I had planned to be at this point, things are running along smoothly enough. I released some Neoseiulus californicus predator mites about a month ago to take care of my broad mite problem and so far, they are being amazing. A month later and I have yet to see any new signs of broad mite activity. It is still early days though and time will tell just how effective the little buggers are. And of course, I still have to get on top of the fruit fly problem (not looking forward to that one). With Spring here and new pods forming, the little bastages can't be too far around the corner. :(

A few piccies to get the show on the road. Not gonna backtrack or anything now... just some random shots of some of what's going on.

Thanks for looking!

Way to go gassy. Look out for some Christmas mail.

Sheeeet... that reminds me.... expect some Christmas mail yourself! Maan, I been slaaaack! I'm going to get it together right now to post first thing tomorrow. ;)

Beautiful plants! Super healthy lookin. Damn fruit flies piss me off too. Awesome variety!

Thanks mate!

They're not all healthly though but I generally try to keep the others out of the shots. ;) Our sun/heat here really does a number on 'em this time of the year--especially the ones in pots!

And after I just watered all my plants this arvo! >.<

Cheers for the heads up, Meez. Sky is pretty dark here ATM. No rain yet but you never know. Looks like a pretty bad storm passing south of me. Please tell me you aren't in the path of that one!

Haaa, that`s funny gas as i was an equal twat as yourself (just watered my plants) now its pissing down.

Its not a front moving in Gas, its developing out west & on the Border Ranges (mezoville) & were loving it as its been so stinking hot inland (sat here typing with my crackers welded to my bum cheeks) LoL

Oh yeah it is me in that storm, put your thumbnail sideways on Kyogle & im directly north of there (thumbnails width or 30 clicks)

Mez.

Crap- catch up time again....

You said:What is it with people wanting to throw seeds at me? Trips just dumped a pile on me, Spicegeist is going to send me some, and now you want to send some also?? (Ha! I appreciate it guys. :D)

Hey payback is mother fu......er! I feel like I'm disturbing late for getting started this year now thanks to your well progressed pornventory of poddage!Spice commented on your Choc Bhuts- they look pretty similar to mine though-just that mine are doing the winter poddage thing right now- meaning slow and a bit smaller and less gnarly lookin then summer....and unfortunately about 300 miles away from me :mope: .I'm relegated to my hotel room ...drying some seeds, making little "dope bags" for seeds to send since I'm out tiny baggies, organizing next years grow-which I swore I would start in December this year(NOT), and so of course I get throw into a project on what would be off time.Damn it, I shoulda been born single rich and unemployed!

Spice has an army of cool crosses....good luck on keeping your grow small and manageable  !

It is getting close to that time for us northernhemisphericanos... I'll probably start my seeds in a week or so...

More cool Waspies....

The "bell" phenotype (not all pods on the plant doing it but it's still cool)

And these ones here...

Pasilla Bajio x Bhut Jolokia F1

Those are some amazing pods and sweet harvest now that will spice up any meal. The BJ x PDN looks amazing you can see all the pimples.

Or you could say every meal. ;) Yeah, I love how the BJ x PDN has turned out... only thing is it looks like the pods don't really want to get that big. :(

Have mercy on me and spare me the payback! (Seriously, I can't even handle the number of plants I have now! I haven't even had a chance to scratch my butt for like weeks now....)

What the heck is a dope bag? Over here baggies are our dope bags.... or sometimes foil.

It is getting close to that time for us northernhemisphericanos... I'll probably start my seeds in a week or so...

Great looking pods Gas!! Wish mine would start bulking out a bit as all of my pods except one, have so far been tiny. Tasty...but tiny! Im really hoping that they will start getting bigger sometime soon!

"What the heck is a dope bag? Over here baggies are our dope bags.... or sometimes foil."

Little sealed baggies made from big ones, cut portions to size, seal/fuse the edges using a lighter with the rest of the material sandwiched between book pages. I can't believe I just explained that....LOL

No problem-consider it a standing offer. Now you can scratch your orifice. :woohoo:

First year for BJ X PDN?

Bhut x PDN... a bit of a smoother pod

Funny how these turn out, all very different, but the smooth pod does seem to be a dominant trait, maybe it's linked to the dark coloring? I'm hoping that when I select my neyde x bhut f2 seedlings for dark coloring, one of them will come out with bumpy bhut pods...

By the way, do you generally only get one pod per node on these?

Butchies with tails

Beautiful. I started soaking my seeds after I saw this... wasn't sure if I was going to grow it...

Well, it's a month into summer and looks like it's already time to start letting the season wind down. Got a :censored: of dog here that is absolutely destroying everything (long story), fruit fly are in full swing and broad mite are making an appearance again. With the dog here for who knows how long, and how many plants it is going to destroy before it is gone, I don't know if it is worth spending good money on another release of Californicus. What's the point when chances are most of my plants aren't gonna make it anyway? I will just treat mite affected plants with soap as they come. Not gonna go soap crazy on all my plants at this stage though as I don't want to wipe out the Californicus population that already exists!

I dunno... on the bright side, at least I will have more time to start making use of the bucketloads of frozen and dried pods I already have! Sauces, jams, powders and all of that. Despite the season turning to shit rapidly, it's still the best I've had so far. What I have now should last me to next season easy.

Haven't posted any piccies in a while.....

Get the bad out of the way... broad mite damage

IMG_0756.JPG

Including the Tovarii :(

IMG_0752.JPG

Been managing to salvage some NOT Dorsets despite not bagging any. As most still have sting marks it seems I've been getting to the them first before the maggots hatch. I've then been dehydrating them at 60C to kill the eggs. Not sure what I'll use them for though as both the taste and heat isn't all that. Maybe powder for the non-superhot lovin' family and friends.....

Fruit fly food :(

Pritavit sweet. The fruit fly are having a field day with 'em! I've left it there as a distractant plant though which seems to be somewhat effective. It's right next to the Spanish Naga, which although is losing some fruit to fruit fly, I'm still pulling some unbagged good 'uns off too.

And speaking of the Spanish Naga, it's going off ATM!

Predicting I will lose at least half of the unbagged pods to fruit fly, but hey, at least some will still end up in my tummy! :D

Another cool Waspie phenotype

And getting some ripe 'uns now

And lastly some more Bhut x PDN pods

Old man face

Thanks for looking!

You do wonders with that PowerShot A480, great looking pods!!!

Thanks Walk!

Great looking pods Gas!! Wish mine would start bulking out a bit as all of my pods except one, have so far been tiny. Tasty...but tiny! Im really hoping that they will start getting bigger sometime soon!

Thanks nee!

It's your first time growing, isn't it? For some reason I got a lot of small pods my first time growing too! (too much lovin' maybe.... :P) They eventually came good though. Hope yours do soon!

Little sealed baggies made from big ones, cut portions to size, seal/fuse the edges using a lighter with the rest of the material sandwiched between book pages. I can't believe I just explained that....LOL

Experience? lol

First year for BJ X PDN?

Not sure what generation it is but it's definitely not an F1. Got the seeds from Grant.

Keep it coming, Gassy. Those pods look great. Many, like the Butch T, are textbook phenotypes.

Thanks Doc! How's your new season coming along? I'll have to get over and check out your glog. (Been mega busy/slack over the last couple weeks!)

Yeah, now that you mention it, I am generally only getting one pod per node. Must be the annuum from the Neyde's side coming out or something!

That would be super cool if you ended up with a black Bhut looking thing!

Beautiful. I started soaking my seeds after I saw this... wasn't sure if I was going to grow it...

Have you grown the TS ButchT before? It produces a lot of variation in pod shape but you really do end up with some great lookin' ones! Good sturdy plant too. I love my ButchT!

Looking good gassy !! Hopefully that freaking dog has settled down today ....

Sadly, no such luck, Trips. Pretty much every time I go outside something new is destroyed. More plants, pods, pots, gardening equipment, you name it. And not to mention the perpetual yapping. Bloody thing keeps waking me up too while I've been trying to rest up on my (rare) days off. Got the neighbours yelling obscenities over the fence now too.

I won't tell you what I want to do to the mutt as I will have animal rights activists all over me!

That Spanish Naga is friggin loaded eh, none of our dogs are allowed in the chilli area, wagging tails tend to knock flowers off. :P

Mezo.
