Caponize?
I'll look that up later, but it sounds painful!
I received him as a gift SS, so have no idea of age, but damn he was a tough old bugger! I doubt if boiling him was a good idea either, but that's how the locals traditionally ruin a good chook, so I suffered in silence. Never again, though!
Your pressure cooker sounds like the way to go...
Hey!
I'm a granddaddy! To three tiny lil' chooks that were born last night. Actually four were born, but once has 'disappeared' overnight.
If he's the leader of the local chicken gang is he called Al Capon?
Build them a little coop and a few nests for laying and you'll be in business laz. Chooks grow faster than peppers, but the two combine to make some tasty meals and the fresh meat and eggs are exceptional.
I have a mean rooster and some domineering hens, so better late than sorry. The cage is within the chook's fenced area, so they get to observe each other for a while b4 the close encounters and a realignment of the pecking order.Only now?
Were these incubated, SS?
Far left one a roo?
Is that a Barred Rock I see? Almost identical to our local Koekoek...All look nice and healthy!
Candling - Yes, just read up on ths and will try it soon.
