Genetikx 2018

First time doing a glog but have followed others for years now. I don't expect monster 5' plants being just north of Chicago but I do expect to have a good time in the dirt and to neglect pulling weeds a time or twelve. The goal is grow a ton of peppers for sauce and maybe even get into powders this year.

We're currently rocking a 4' 4 tube hydrofarm T5, which I think is an awesome fluorescent. In the past I've supplemented with regular shop lights in the seedling stage and for overflow but might get another proper T5 soon. First time growing in this new house so hopeful to avoid mites, aphids, and the like. I'll end up throwing some plants in the backyard and then also claim a spot at the community garden.

Best of luck to all the awesome grows here at THP. Hope everyone has a great 2018.

Good thing leaves are all pretty healthy atm

Other reason to trim all the lower leaves is that it's getting difficult to water. I went back to top watering... But i guess I could switch it up again. Plants are just happier when I water from the top

Speaking of green. Still haven't clipped many lower leaves

Also decided to pot up the zapotec, biker billy jalas and blue christmas. The jalas just needed more room to play and blue christmas gets more dirt just cuz I'm curious what it'll do in new shoes.

For root reference, last pot up was 2/5/18

Pots are 6.5" wide, 7" tall. I'll pot of those other 2 jalas soon

D3 and Juanitos, those super tall 3.5" pots was kind of a bitch to work with. I found getting the plants out was a little more difficult than it needed to be.

I did end up clipping a lot of leaves right after that last update a couple weeks ago.

Ended up being a pound on the nose

Everything is about back to normal now

I've got 2 aji pineapples that didn't look too happy directly under the T5's so I moved them to the back row. They really started to take off and now are kinda droopy even after a proper water. I don't recall these being so finicky, but anyone else out there have the same need to find the right sun/shade balance for the pineapples...or similar peppers?

Other updates, just about everything got potted up to my preferred 1 gallon pots. Those super tall 3.5's are for the birds in my opinion. Didn't get optimal upward growth with them and they are a pain in the pooper to get plants out of. So if anyone wants to buy 100 gently used 3.5" X 5.5" inch pots, holla!

Upward growth, I feel my plants are half as tall as I'd expect. Same soil, same lights, new tall pots and new house...so idk. Looks like others had decent height with the pots...lookin at you D3.

Hit the plants with a myco drench today. Probably a month from now and we'll start hardening off. That's it for now, hope all is well with everyone's grow. Speaking of for the birds, more snow coming.

C'mon, Ryan. You're killing me here. I still have hooks and you're trimming leaves. Lol. I just started way late. Your entire grow looks awesomely. You're gonna be overrun with produce this season. I hope everything goes smoothly with your grow. Looking great!

Adam my man! People have been looking for you, where's the glog? We'll look at your hooks!

I'm slacking this year. I'll try to start a glog but I only have about a month of growth. But one of my favorite things to do is look at other peoples' grow lists to see what they got their hands on or what they chose to grow. So I'll try to get one started to at least post my list. Thanks for the encouragement!

Plants are looking great...nice work.

Some real stunners in the next few weeks it looks like.
Feel like they've been in the house forever, but hoping for a final burst before they get evicted.

I did have to put 4 on the chopping block after BLS was confirmed by my local extension. A white fatali was 1st to show and then it spread to a few others. Think both my scotch allen boatman's caught it if I'm not mistaken. So what would any pepper farmer do...yep, started some Santa Fe's :)

Ool... BLS is nothing to f*** around with... glad you caught it before it could really spread. Sounds like an opportunity to plug the holes in the ranks with the Annuums of your choice. [emoji6] Do you have a fan in your grow area?

Yea think I threw down some more biker billy's and then those sante fes. I do have a 'large' fan that runs 24/7. Pretty sure the BLS stems from infected seeds since I originally had 2 white fatalis, they both had the same spots since they were yungins. I gave one to my buddy before BLS was confirmed.

I just went back and looked at your growlist. You're growing some mighty tasty peppers. I was expecting face-melting varieties and you surprised me with the more edible heat range with great flavor. I'm wondering how these Peach Scotch Bonnets from Justin (WHP) will taste.

Some sweet looking plants Ryan!

Sorry to read about the BLS; and I'm glad you removed them. You're so correct, most times it comes in the seeds.

Keep it green!
