GOD DAMN IT! Just my luck.

we have 3 options budget, mid range and fucking expensive! Oh yea and remoulds which i wouldn't use on a bicycle never mind a car!

Well, modern vulcanization technology has made retreads much, much safer but hell no i wouldn't put 'em on a pushmower. I've had to fix a few trucks and cars in my time that had recaps on them that cut loose....what a mess.

i think people underestimate the importance of tyres. I my self put on what the car needs, if the car ain't nothing special them cheap tyres but if it's a semi decent motor them i'd treat it to some mid range.
But seeing as most of my motors are mobile toolboxes/lunch rooms and general workhorses i don't waste money on them.
I'm a plasterer so my cars get pretty dirty and dusty on the inside and i've never paid over £500 for a car yet,
normally pick them up cheaper than that what i have now cost £200 2year ago and the only major thing i've had to do was change the carb, not one day has it not started.

They do underestimate them. Customers of ours freak out when they find out how much the original equiptment michelins on a lincoln cost. So they want me to find the cheapest thing in the world for it, then they come back a day later and have the balls to complain that the car rides like sh*t and doesnt handle worth a crap either.

for you european folks, thats just gotta suck dealing with them about vehicle standards, as for too much rust, thats crazy! & scrap your vehicle because of ? thats BS!

Actually, yes. It takes me about 30 minutes to do it(and yes, it sucks majorly). All thats required are a couple of prybars an a sledgehammer(to help break the bead).

yep I've had to change tires several times in my early years, to bad they werent easy vehicle tires instead they were tractor tires. we still used flatbars/prybars & homemade beadbreacker (V shaped weld on pipe with 6' HEAVY bar for swinging to break bead)
then sprayed inside the tire with plenty of ether then lit it with a torch POP! the tire is set on the rim (dont need to balance tractor tires as much as other vehicles)
it was a F'ing bitch to swap tread!!

I'm going to have to get new rear tires for mine too. Inspection is due and apparently the rear end alignment I got last year was not successful so the right rear is balding on the outside. I'm going to take it back to the same place and try to get it done right this time. I'm sure they'll charge me for the tires, but maybe I'll get the alignment done for free. I mean a new tire shouldn't wear out in 12,000 miles. On a good note, I made my last payment last Thursday so I now own my car and plan to drive it until it dies...twice.

Thats not entirely true. The basics and the theories are still the same. As a matter of fact, lately i find most people(who claim to be techs) rely way too much on a scan tool to figure basic problems out that you can do with a bit of common sense thinking and no scanner.

That's partly true. But a lot of parts have sensors and electronics nowadays. I might be able to fix them but I don't have the tools to reset the electronics. And then you get alarm messages or it doesn't work at all. In former cars you had easy access for example to the bulbs of the headlights. In most recent cars you have to take apart half of the car to get there. So now I have a leasing car. If something doesn't work I make a phone call and it will be fixed. No time wasted. I liked to work on cars back in the days. But I don't have the time any more. And my spare time I need for the family, growing peppers, taking pictures etc.. So I'm not sad about it.
