greenhouse Greenhouse and raised bed made of used tyres

So do the Germans call them Grunehaus or Glassehaus?

I realise there should be an umlaut above the 'U' in Grune but don't know how to do this on a English 'UK' keyboard.

For me it was very important to build my GH with a very small budget. So its really a low budget thing!
I even used parts of my old GH, that you can see on the very first pics.
If i were you i would dispense with the insulation!

But of course in the end it has to look like something good!

Actually, I'm way more of a substance over style guy! I want the plants to grow - having them in an attractive building comes in second!

In German we call it Gewächshaus, other words for this are hardly used!

And because this thread would be worthless without pics, here are some more:

and last but not least a picture made in late August, before i built the GH

Hope you enjoy my low budget project

Looks good. Hope the wife isn't too upset :)

When adding a pictures, you are adding two lots of image brackets '' accidently. This is because this website is adding them and so is the place your storing them. If you copy the code from the storage place including the '[img]' bit, you can post it straight into the message.

Otherwise copy just the address from there you are storing it (minus [img] bit) and paste it into the 'insert image box' here when writing your message.

i hope not only the substance but also the style is OK!!!!

Your style stomps my style into smithereens! Here's the thread that shows my "style" though it is probably lack of style:

But here is how some of the plants look:

I really like your GH and would be willing to bet you will be harvesting a lot of fruits from it. One thing I learned about a GH, though, is you need to have a fan in it, preferably an oscillating one, to get air to the plants, especially if you use any supplemental heat. The humidity level, at least in mine, gets extremely high and I find it a breeding ground for white mold.

@toleman: unterstood!

lets try again:

ah i see... seems to work, as you told me.

@ wordwiz: I think my style is little bit like german closeness... so there a saying in Germany, that everthing has to have a face...so does my GH.
and there is another saying: In the end the fruit concedes a point to you. And as i can see, in your GH there will be lots of fruits too...

Your raised bed using used tires is brilliant! 3 tiers is awesome and plenty deep.
You obviously take pride in your work. :woohoo:

Any updated pics with some stuff growing other than a weed in chicken poo? :) I always thought it was better to use material that was more transparent than what you have used. It looks great though, I may have to try and create my own design off of this if the fiance and I get a house with enough space. Keep up the great work.

Hi Folkz,

World Cup is over for Germany =(

So i was searching here for some impressions for a hydro setup to keep things in motion.
Every day something new...

and casually i found some new replies to my thread:

So here are some pics about 2 weeks old

But the last two weeks there was really a lot of growing in the greenhouse, due to the fact that this is the hottest july in germany since a long time...

by the way: mor pics of my garden you will find on my blog. And of course everything is growing well in my chicken and horse manure ;)
http://oertys-hot-chili-blog.blogspot.com/

Of course i will update some new pics in here the next days

@pappywith4: The connection was done with screws and a small iron belt,we call Nagelband in Germany. Unfortunately i found no synonyme in leodictonary =(.

In the joint between the tyres i fixed with the tyre tube, that i cut into pieces!

So far...

latest pics from the Greenhouse...

by the way: yesterday i harvested some ripe tomatoes, the first ones this season

and even outside everything is doing well
