AJ,

I got a scare the other day about selling plants - a landscaper called and told me I needed a license, inspection, etc. Called the state AG Dept. and as long as I am selling less than $200 in perennials, no need for a license. I can sell all the annuals I want.

Mike

I reckon I will learn as I go Mike...my license is good for less than 4K sales quarterly....

Thanks Chef...is a lot of work but very enjoyable...

AJ,

If I can sell $4K in a quarter, I would gladly pay the license fee! In my wildest scenario, growing toms inside during winter and selling them to stores, I would gross less than $2500 per 13 weeks.

AJ when you retire and do all this full-time you should write a book, and I would like an autographed first copy when you please.

I don't know where it will go Mike...that is the lowest bracket they had for tax license...

Thanks JayT...if I ever do write a book, you will get the first autographed copy...

I got all my Fataliis transplanted today...30 of them total...6 chocolates, 6 reds, and 18 regular...

I transplanted one each of the chocolate, red, and regular to a 1 gallon, 1.25 gallon, 5 gallon, and 7 gallon...and the rest went into 1 gallon...

I will take pictures in the morning...this will be the first night they are outside on their own and may not go back in the greenhouse ever again....I sure hope they like their new home...

How cold has it been there lately AJ? It's been nippy here in the morning (into the mid-40's today). I'm sure they'd do better with more consistant soil temps and some longer days, but I've grown way too lazy to bring even the small ones indoors at night. I suppose I could do ONE tray. I'm about to take the light boxes out of our living space.

it is 55 here right now..was down to 54 a little earlier....nothing below 50 forecast for the next 10 days and the later it gets the less chance it will get below 50....(I hope)

gonna post a few pics in the comparison thread in a minute or two...

I'd like a pepper emporium where you can taste a bit of everything, visit the nursery, and have a meal at a table next to some exotic plant under lights.

And buy stuff. Lots of buying involved.

Carol,

That's my plan (or should I say dream), or at least similar. A place where shoppers could buy anything they need to raise or preserve food from seeds to glass jars and pressure canners. Mylar and grow tents, greenhouse film It would include dirt and container growing supplies, indoor and outdoor equipment, all types of lights and hydro stuff - with lots and lots of displays. Peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, beans, strawberries, peas, melons, cucumbers, squash. Shoppers can sample the produce free of charge.

"Grow Yer Own" Way

Mike

Carol and Mike, that sounds like my kind of place. I think you should set up franchises all over the world so we can all go to a local spot, eat chilis and spend money....hmmmm that's my style of shopping.

pepperfever,

What would really bring people in would to grow a Kenaf Hibiscus plant in a hydro chamber. It would look close to a pot plant but if I put it under LED lights I could explain the slight difference in leaves because of the lighting. The explanation for no leaves at the bottom would be that visitors seem to clip them off. But think how many LED lights and hydro chambers I could sell to fools wanting their very own 15' tall pot plant!
