What do you do for weed suppression? I have to get out and do something about these weeds today

I'm renting one of these...let's see if I can destroy my beds
I use a spading fork to fluff my raised beds before transplanting out, but I also add humus every year. My circumstances are probably quite different than yours... I have really sandy soil, and need to add humus to help with absorbancy, so water and nutes are held in place at root level and don't leach away. You sound like you have a lot of clay in your beds, but you should add lots of humus anyway to lighten the soil, help air and water reach the roots, and make it easier for the roots to spread out and downward.ColdSmoke said:I need help Gents. The soil in my raised beds is rock hard. I didn't cover them this year. I can barely get a shovel into it. How do I till it? Should I mix in a bunch of peat and compost to soften it up?

Some good advice right there. My preference however is to let the roundup dehydrate into a powder and then dusting the plant. That way it takes care of the weeds and the aphids at the same time.Pepper-Guru said:You guys can also apply roundup at double strength at anytime to your rows and pepper plants to keep the weeds down.
I just go the cheap route and water with gasoline.KAOS said:Some good advice right there. My preference however is to let them roundup dehydrate into a powder and then dusting the plant. That way it takes care of the weeds and the aphids at the same time.
