Thats probably what caused the delay. They figured you were such a nice guy that you wouldnt mind waiting!

That's an easy one these days.
 

After an overnight soak in some acetone my entries are getting cozy in a mixture of saw dust, Kingsford ashes, and used coffee grinds with crushed moth balls to help with drainage. I also put everything in the microwave for about 90 seconds to warm up the seeds and the potting mix 
 

 
A nice follow-up to that would be a little H2SO4 treatment.
 
Spray the soil 2-3 times daily for super fast germination!

I'd use Highland Park 12 but I guess that Lagavulin would also do!

I prefer to pickle myself in plenty of not enough whiskey prior to allowing the seeds to have any. Keeps them grateful.
