Haha Jeff, I didn't know this was your glog!  I finally caught up a little - your
OW plants are doing very well.  I think you have them in a good place.  My
OW in the greenhouse get down to 50 nightly (a couple of low 40's during
the last cold snap) and they are holding their own.  You're right, just keep
em' alive until spring!

Looking forward to your 2014 grow.  I always like seeing your garden space!

That table looks like some nice wood-working skills, Jeff! And OW's looking pretty darned good. I saw that Burgundy! (Dang, those are GREAT mother plants!!) A cave to every man and woman (which is a smarter promise than a chicken in every pot, since that didn't happen, lol).

Also, thanks for mentioning sauce. I was going to send a different one but you fish and thus . . . fox was pretty open. They are around here too. Reds. Just hang out on side of road and watch cars go by up at Lake James (probably hoping for chicken truck). I love the fudge/brownie idea. I think cakes are next for me! Spicy red velvet with a little white bhut powder in cream cheese icing. :D

Thank you so much for powder, Jeff. As you can see, already got into one before took pic. (Addiction is like that!) I LOVE your powders! Picking up pork shoulder from abattoir this afternoon and I see some HBJ in the rub! Again thank you and have great holiday season!!

It was my pleasure Annie.  Just doesn't seem like enough consider the awesomeness of your sauce.  You can expect some pods in the mail next summer!!!

It was a very ugly looking red for sure.  I think grays are prettier any ways.

That cream cheese frosting sounds heavenly too.

The blend and the smoked are labeled backwards.  Same pepper in each, but what is labeled as blend is pure smoked pepper only.

Have a great Christmas!!

1700 pellets!  You'll have to get some more for the last minute spring seeding

I'm going to try some Jiffy pellets again, for the third time.  I don't know what's wrong,
but I just haven't had the best results with them.  The regular peat/perlite seed starting
mix has been more reliable for me, but def not as easy as the pellets.  Any hints for using
them to steer me in the right direction?

I use the ones that are 33 mm in size.  When I add water I believe they end up inch and a half by inch and a half.  Then add my seeds, one per cell as I hate killing off the extra that come up (explains how I had so many scorpion tongue last year lol).  Just bottom water and keep the dome on.  I don't use a mat, but my lights keep them warm enough to germ fast enough.

They say you don't have to pull the netting off when you pot up, but a few years ago I had missed pulling the netting off one of my serrano peppers and I couldn't figure out why it would go limp in the garden, once I watered it would pick back up.  I played this game all summer.  Turns out I left the netting on that one.  Only thing I could think of that was different than the serranos right next to it.

I think this stuff is pure peat with a light dose of feed mixed in.  I don't worry about feeding until I pot up.  Then its the chore of watering them all until plant out...which is the only part I dislike.

I tried that stuff this fall starting my early MoA and Manzano...I hate their bag mix.  Perhaps its a different kind that I bought, but it was Jiffy starter soil and it stinks.  Goldish bag I beleive.

Here's the stuff I use.  Very finely ground peat (70-80%),
perlite, and a little dolomite lime.  Works very well for me;
if I let the seedling develop a rootball, it is very easy to
transplant.  If I transplant as soon as the cotys show, it
hangs together pretty well without coming apart.

Thanks, If I could figure out how to change my name on here to HillBillyJeff I would lol.
Jeff,

At the top right of the screen click on your nick, then edit profile, then click display name, the rest is golden ;)

I use the pellets too, they work really well for me... as soon as a seedling stands up I cut the mesh off and pot it. I leave the pellet 1/2" proud of the potting soil and water around it. I feel it helps with dampening off.

As usual the foodies make me hungry, and the OW's look super too. I'm trying to catch up..this week has been a losing battle for that!

AND, Thanks for the powder! A really nice surprise!

Pics tomorrow..AKA film at 11 ;)

Enjoy the weekend!

edit:super not supper

I want to add my thanks to Annie and Devv's, Jeff.  The powders
smelled awesome when I opened the envelope!  Can't wait to try
them out!

Thanks, again, buddy!

Glad they made the trip okay.  Hope they taste as good as they smell.  I think I will be smoking just about all my peppers that I powder from now on.

I see you got your name changed. No more Bodeen here.

Got your powders yesterday. Thanks a bunch. Quite a bit of it is gone already. :D

Does that mean you're in a hurry to get rid of it, or does that mean you enjoy it :)

I've been Bodeen online since 1996, felt it was time for a change to something more appropriate and to my roots and lifestyle.

Okay, Bodeen is no longer with us; long live HillBilly Jeff!

Woohoo....Hopefully HillBilly Jeff can grow peppers like Bodeen did!!!!

Gotta post some burger pics with Annie's sauce on them.  I almost forgot about the sauteed cauliflower mushrooms in garlic butter, so I had to make another sandwich up for a proper pic lol.  Also dressed them up in some homemade relish.
