My not BMJ, the red looking BMJ, and a BMJ were all picked today in a selective harvest.  Pods are starting to come in.  Was finally able to be at home during daylight hours.

First up is a fat serrano looking not BMJ.  It is nothing like I have grown before.

Quick to heat up, but it topped out around 50 k.  Burn all on top of the tongue.  No aroma when cut, and not much flavor.

Next up was the red looking BMJ.  And I have seen another planting throwing the same kind of pods.

No aroma when cut.  No heat until I swallowed.  Throat burn that left fast.  The the heat settled under the tongue and lingered.  10 K perhaps.  These are the first ripe pods, so maybe later in the year they will do better. No noticeable flavor.

Last pepper I sampled was the real BMJ.  Instant BMJ aroma when cut.  First bite was no heat until I swallowed, then it hit under the tongue...hmmm..  Next bite was hotter and hit under the tongue, the tip of the tongue, the lips.  Hottest of the three for sure.  Good BMJ taste.

Bump please....

Shot of the overall picking today.  Orange Thai forgot to get in the shot.  This was a selective harvest as I wasn't thorough in checking all my peppers.  I really just wanted to get the BMJ and MoA pods off.

The Yellow scorpions are showing true shape yet, but I do have some true pods on the plants.  Will have a bigger harvest tomorrow and I hope a review of the West Indie Habanero.  Friggen fall is creeping up on me fast here.

Looking to be last season on the lanterns.  I have said this for three years now though.  Going to have one raised bed full of only habs next year again and if I need the space the lantern will be done.  Otherwise, it should make the cut.

The one to the left is a BMJ.  Unfortunately I knocked off a green pod.

Looks great Jeff. When you take the green ones that get knocked off, how do you get them to ripen?I knock some off and want to save them. ;)

I never tried it during the season, but at season's end, I pick all my pods off if I think frost is going to get them.  I then put them in a cardboard box or a brown paper bag with a red apple and they ripen rather quickly.  You can see the process in my glog from last season.

I would think it would work during the year as well.

That sucker is HUGE!  Is that normal?  When you say Monster, is that a variant?

I bet it's gonna be one awesome tasting pod.

I think it is just a bigger than normal pod is all.  I think I got the mix right in my raised beds as there are other varieties out there that have some nice pods too.  My 7 pot Burgundy came from the back garden though.  Annie says that her burgundy are huge too and I believe she got her seeds from my pods last year.  Who knows.  I tried to say a nice stinger pod from last years 7 pot hoping it would throw more stingers, not the case.

I will keep these seeds separate though...Will have to plant one just to see what happens lol.

Gotcha.  For a minute there, I got my hopes up that I could find that variant of Yellow Scorpion.  BUT, I do absolutely agree, the right mix will grow awesome plants and HUGE pods.

I wish the same could be said about my cipollini onions.  Small harvest, but I got plenty of tasting to do on these.  So far I am in onion love!!!!  Not to be confused with muskrat love.

Next year I will go about planting these a little bit different to try to get bigger pods.

Throw some pepper jack or string cheese in those Cherry Peppers and Yellow Mushrooms. Baste with olive oil and garlic and throw on the grill. Just had some last night, and they were goood!

Nice looking pod. I like the lure to pod comparison. Does this mean we are going fishing? I wish there was fish to catch around here that's worth eating.

Thanks for sharing Jeff.

Have a good day.

Colorado home of the golden trout!!!!  State record walleye is 18 pounds!!!  And the hunting you all have out there.  Spicy elk sausage for breakfast!!!

Didn't go fishing today as squirrel season opened on the 15th and this was my first opportunity to morning hunt....Bagged one.
