Home and in a great condition

We're back from Ohio. Before we left I'd been cleaning, back hurt, normal thing..never thought anything about it. Had to go to dr on Fri. I have either a fractured vertebra or a herniated disc pinching the sciatic nerve. Pain pills, ice packs, intense pain. I will need an mri, for now just trying to simmer it down. I'm sure riding nearly 2000 miles did not help any. This is not the time as I have peppers that need my attention. I will definitely be growing everything in containers this year.

and hazy vision in another.

Ever since I got those arch supports for my feet I've had zero back problems. I recomend looking into them, highly.. Get well soon.

I agree a hurt back sucks! Take care of it now so that you'll be able to plant out when the time comes. I hope you had a good trip to Ohio, although I'm sure our fair state isn't as pretty as yours...

PF, we were in Ohio because Charles dad passed away. He was 90 1/2 so had a good long life.
The funeral was in Cambridge if you know where that's at.

I have had back problems before but this time it's on the right side, same thing different side. I'm hoping if I take care of it things will get better. It sucks because you always find things that need doing when you can't do them. BTW Ohio was great..hardly any snow, water in many spots not even frozen, amazing what a zone or two does for weather conditions. I felt like it was spring there.

Jackie, I am sorry that you had to come to Ohio under those circumstances and yeah, I know where Cambridge is. I'm about 40 minutes north, straight up I-77.

I know all about finding thins that need doing but can't do them. It is a horrible. I can't wait until I get this horrible cast off and am able to walk again. So, I know your pain so to speak.

welcome back & sorry to hear about your back, hope for a speedy recovery!
as for growing in containers, you pretty much have to for long season chiles in MN. I would suggest making or buying wagons that'll hold 3-8 containers depending on the container size, works great to extend the growing season pre/post & if heavy or too many storms come.

I am hoping for the best cuz it hurts like crazy...already sick of sitting around doing nothing. But it's one of those lovely Minnesota days, cold and windy and half the state is closed, no school, Toro and PM shut down already. Good day to stay in the house.

Jackie - I sympathize with you as I've had back problems on/off again all my lifed. Last January I had an MRI and they diagnosed stenosis, which is the squeezing of the nerves. I went in for a steroid shot (they can tell exactly where to put it thru another test - some type of electrical stimulation thing - I forget what it is called). Within 30 minutes of the shot the pain was gone, and I haven't had major problems since then, although I am very stiff and sore, but not the pain as before.
Good luck
Bill

BillC, I'm so glad that shot worked for you. The one time I had one I was in so much pain they literally took me to the door of the hospital in tears, in a wheelchair. I know most people walk out on their own. The tech doing the shot said I had a LOT of nerve damage. The shot did not help me. That was on the left side. Dr found a broken vertebra then shot some cement in to fix that. Ok a couple of days later, pain again, he found stenosis...duh he just shot the cement in there and it oozed out...not rocket science to figure that was why the stenosis. He implanted a dorsal column stimulator..read glorified tens unit....it helps some but I still had pain pills for the left side, now genius that I am messed up the right side. Dr told me if they operated on my spine it would fall apart...duh again, stay the hell out!!!!!! I have had degenerative arthritis in lower spine for many years and it is progressing. When I hurt my back the first time that dr told me I was done gardening... I didn't listen to him and still grow my plants, too stubborn to quit cuz he said so. Sorry for the run on...one of my pet peeves is my back problems, I'm too young to stop gardening and I refuse to do it.
