Yeah, I'm done.
Hornet BOMB! Get down!
Yeah, I'm done.
Guys, I'm not sure how productive this discussion is.
@Pex - for what it's worth, and as someone who likes you on here, RedTail does have a good point. As someone in the process of starting up a business, I read RedTail's comments and can't help but agree - I'm paying a co-packer (which ends up being cheaper than me doing it at home for the economies of scale) and registering the business and buying bar-codes and paying for a million & 6 things along the way to do it legit, it is a little hard to accept someone who isn't playing by the same rules and incurring the same fees that we're paying for the right to sell to the public.
That said, I'm not the sauce police and it's not really my place to tell you what to do or what risks to incur. As someone who likes you (and loves your bee logo) those risks are substantial though - it doesn't matter if your sauce is safe or not - you can get into some very real trouble selling it out of your kitchen. Both with the state and the county, and possibly the feds. Plus all it takes is one *claim* that someone got sick from your sauce, and they can sue the hell out of you.
I'd suggest considering a barter-style arrangement while you get your test market feedback - trade sauce for other goods. There will be plenty of folks willing to do that - I've done it on here to great success. I can't say I've never sold a bottle of my sauce as some folks insisted on paying me for it - but when I first started to get the business going & filed my DBA to start to "go legit" I didn't sell another bottle. I've given away probably close to 500 bottles of sauce in the last year though - I consider it the costs of doing business. The feedback comes at a price too.
@RedTail & Pex & 3/5 - I honestly think this topic has gone a bit far. It's at the point that it's almost a fight - this board's better when it's harmonious. People can disagree without making a federal case out of it, and I think this horse is plenty dead right now. This certainly isn't a sauce review any more to say the least.
Ok, I am one to vote to end this topic. I have no more need for all this drama in my life and it is starting to get a little ridiculous in my opinion. I did not post in this thread to comment on big government, over regulation and other bullsh*t political issues. I find it amusing that some people are using this topic as an opportunity to pat themselves on the back for being true patriots. Ok guys, good job for buying American.....big government bad.....we all get it.
@FuseBox - Name calling really isn't doing yourself justice. You are just embarrassing yourself. . . In response to your comments, I did kind of take it upon myself but not until I was verbally assaulted in the chatroom and found out through other people. I confronted Pex about it, he apologized and yes, it did stop.
Like I said, I'm done with this topic and would like to move on with life. Pex, good luck with furthering your products. Believe it or not, I encourage you to do so! I encourage you to do it in the LEGAL manner.
This is a forum where people come together who share a common bond. This is NOT a place to preach to the choir about legality issues.
