HURRICANE SANDY.... how are ya'll doing....

I mostly have seen all the junk the media has posted as far as pictures. I couldn't even begin to imagine the disaster and chaos. I am glad a lot of eastern THPers have posted and are doing ok. If I wasn't on the west coast I so would love to help start to clean up and rebuild. You guys hang in there. Hopefully it won't be like Katrina where in New Orleans some houses never got rebuilt. Thoughts still being sent your way.

Closest to Katrina level I have seen so far is Staten Island and the Jersey shore. Atlantic City is demolished

A friend reported that an electric crew from Iowa restored power at her parents' house here in Cleveland earlier today. I also saw two other out-of-state crews on my way home tonight. The Iowa team said they're making their way east - once they get done in Cleveland, they'll continue moving that way and help out wherever help is still needed. One of the major surface streets that I take leading to downtown has had all sections reopened now as the high water is finally gone. Progress is being made, though it will take a much longer time for those closer to the coast.

14 local Bonneville Power trucks were loaded on to C-130's this morning headed to your region.

very cool.

Glad to hear all of you are doing well in light of the circumstances. This is a cutthroat world and I hate it a lot of times for that, if I was there, I would open my doors to families without homes. I'd feed them what I could and help the city in any way I could. There are so many people that could band together but don't....instead you have people like your friend, THP, who has to stand guard so no one steals what little he has left...pathetic. I commend all those who are extending what they have to those that don't. I'll keep ya'll in my prayers.

That is the most awesome, genuine thing ever posted on THP.
I am with you all, and wish I could help more.

Thank you 3/5King.

Don't worry 3/5, NYC is a strong community and the looters and opportunists are in the minority. Everyone I know is pulling together. Also, a lot of us are stranded and can't help those we want to. No gas. No trains. No cabs, because no gas. No way to get anywhere except walk. That should be getting better soon.

I have a 4WD mtn climbin SOB of a truck, with a 8000 lb WARN wench w. 100' of 1/2 braided cable, a 40" Husqvarna chain saw, and LOTS of experience and back muscle.

Oh I wish I could be there...

So far all is well inland here. Its a shame that the resort beach towns are getting the media coverage. I know that allot of the small fishing communities on the Delaware bay side have lost everything. These are multi generation baymen and families that make a living in the bay shores. Our church and family has donated clothing and food. People are pulling together and doing what we can to help
