I ate the Naga Morich (pics)

I was down in Bridport in the UK this weekend, where Michael and Joy Michaud live and have their chili farm where they grow the dorset naga.

The local newspaper ran an article on another local woman who claimed to have "discovered" the Ghost Chili or Bhut Jolokia and was saying it was the hottest thing ever, blah, blah.

Very good response from Mr Michaud, who's fairly famous over here in foodie circles, who said (paraphrasing) "well, basically, they're genetically identical anyway, and I never claimed to have discovered the Dorset Naga or anything, it's a punjabi chili, I just grow it. You don't discover them."

Which I thought was a very level headed reply.

I'm in. My Nagas are about 2 days above the ground, so its gonna be awhile. Is it considered cheating if you eat a whole dried pod (can be reconstituted) that you ordered online or do you have to eat it fresh / grow it yourself?

Just wondering cause I ordered 20 of the dried pods from nagaseeds.org is why i was asking lol.:lol:

I would say yes because it won't be as juicy.
 
Alright, I'll do it whenever they come in. I'll start with one, and if I'm not on the floor crying I'll try the second one. :lol:

So should I attempt to "reconstitute" the pepper in warm water first or just crunch through a dry one?

mmmmm...I'm iffy on the reconstitution thing...I just say pop two and take pics.
 
hey a woman from india can eat 60 of those naga's, so surely a guy from big bad TX could eat more than just 2 little naga's, why not 61 naga's you dont want to be outdone by a woman :cheers: ;)

So true...I bet they're getting those pods in the middle of the monsoon season when the scovilles are down.

What do u think 'O great naga muncher ' is it possible to eat tens of what u went through? Or is it all fickle feminine fantasy :cheers:

I feel like an elder Indian chief with a name like 'O great naga muncher'...

Me name Sitting Bullshit. Me am Great Naga Muncher. Many moons ago, I cleared out whole village with one naga fart. Many great buffalo died that night, they could not run fast enough.

I say the chicky-babe can do it, she's probably one of thhose people that are immune to cap. But us normal people sure as hell can't.

Clearly, I'm only amateur compared to you pros, so my facial expressions, and indeed my entire body language may be somewhat disturbing.

I'll just run the idea past Mrs Shooty*...

Update: Veto'ed on the double grounds that a) I have eczema and this will aggravate it and b) with small child in the house, having nagas within 1/2 mile is probably a bad idea.

You don't realise it until you have offspring, but young mammals test EVERYTHING by putting it in their mouths.

Except their own vomit, oddly enough.

Psssst... she's not watching now. I'll have a word with Woody, se if he can scoot some over. Hell, we might be able to do a double act :cheers:
