Well, the nice thing is that I no longer take tests...I write and grade them. An anolgy for the difficulty of my exams would be like having a non-chilihead smear a drop of Jersey Death on their tongue...it hurts like hell, if they do it enough times they get used to the heat, and they learn from the experience. I have an unique learning philosophy...you can only truely learn when you are truely challenged. Memorizing facts is easy, and we have computers for that purpose...but applying previous knowledge to unfamiliar problems is when true learning occurs. I expect the best student to score approximately 80% on exams. I don't grade on a straight 90/80/70 scale or a curve (not a large enough sample size), but I have a fair grading scale. In a two course sequence, students who have me for the first course almost always do better in the second course than students who did not have me, reguardless of who teachs the second course.
