Interesting looking pod...

I was just checking out ChilePlants.com and came across an interesting looking pod. Anyone heard of this one before?

That is a really cool looking pod, wonder where you could find seeds? Well if my first year starting seeds fails, Cross Country is my fall back to order plants and I'll have to add that to my wish list. Interested to see what other have to say about this pod. Have to see if it is in the chileman.org database.

...I wonder if it's good or not

Yea I was hoping someone else had grown this one and had some feedback.

Yea I wish they sold seeds along with plants.

Looks Foodarama Scotch bonnet'ish to me.

Yea it is similar in a lot of ways.

Sounds like a Peter pepper Xed with a Habanero???

It does sound like that but would the pod be more elongated?

Found a little more info for it:

http://fatalii.net/chile/?u=g&c=&word=Petenero+(C.+chinense)&id=6770

Here too. Looks like different part of same site. Interesting description. Scroll Down to read it:

Thanks. In his description it says, "This one actually became one of my favorites immediately after tasting it."

I am a bit interested.

I was given seeds from 915River but the spelling is PATANERO on the pack.
Same thing?
Darn it,I'll just have to force myself to grow another variety this season... :)

Yea, Im thinking I might want to try this one too....dang it! This is probably going to the make the 9th or so unintended "venture" for 2011. I don't know where I'm going to put all these plants! lol

915River has experience with it and has tried some crossing. :) I'm growing it this season. Can't wait. It's gorgeous.

I am supposedly done in terms of my grow list for this season. So...keep me posted on how this one turns out for your.

Mayo Pimento is one that catches my eye. Nice look to it.

Chris

Yea it kind of looks like a snake head.

I don't know? Have you grown the Patanero yet? If so, do you have any pictures?

I don't know why I continue to look at different varieties. My garden spots are all filled and I didn't want to do any containers this year accept for a basil plant. I haven't started germinating yet. I am sure I will cave and add more varieties by then.

I just got the seeds a week or so ago.
I'm hoping the Petanero and Patanero are just different spelling for the same thing.
Cool looking pods.

The correct spelling is "Petenero" like on Chileplants.com. I have grown it and made a cross with it together with a black-foliaged chinense variety. Growing 12 F2-plants this year... Here is the first thread about this variety...

sweet looking pods. =D

Indeed, I want some!

I am growing them this season. I will be isolating flowers for seed. If all goes well, I should be offering free seeds in the Fall. I will most likely make them available to US members only. I have nothing against anyone, it just makes it easier for me. But...maybe I can send two packs to members who will agree to send one pack to non-US members. That way everyone will be happy.

Oh, I wasn't demanding :) I just tend to type quicker than I think :D sounds like a great idea though!
