Yes, Houston is big. If I recall correctly, it's the largest city in the nation in terms of land size, although only 4th in the nation in terms of population. I grew up and still have fam there, so can tell you plenty. Let me know what area you would be working in, if you took that job, and I can suggest some areas to consider for living. Note I-10 is the busiest freeway in the country, regardless of whether you're on it in Houston or L.A., so know if you land around I-10, you're going to want to find alternate routes if you need to get downtown. Like all big cities, if you're at the right place in the burbs, you can have an easy drive to city attractions and also to outdoor attractions, and the Houston area has plenty of both.
