What kind of sticky trap is that? And where did you get it?
Most anywhere you can buy it, think I got it at Walmart. Let me say this, one fell on my floor and left a mess and the mess now has 100+ stuck gnats! They work great but do not 100% solve the problem of course.

Here are a few of the plants, some doing better than others. As previously stated, damn near killed them all!

Thanks for the info. I may have one of those around here somewhere. I tried one last year outside for those biting flies that look like 3/4 size house flies. It didn't work for those. On the other hand, since I sprayed earlier today with my hot pepper/garlic/mustard seed spray, the gnats have really thinned out. I'm not sure where they went, but they're leaving the peppers.

Holy crap Joyner, your fungus gnat infestation was way worse than mine if you are still battling them. I still have a few, but nothing like that. Good thing plant out time is in a few weeks. I grow tired of indoor bugs. Time to deal with outdoor bugs.

My quick surefire way to irradicate fungus gnats from the grow room--> Last week I put all the dirt plants on the deck to get some fresh air and the only thing in the grow room is 16ish hydro plants. Fungus gnat population has been about nill without soil in the room. Makes me think that an indoor nursery next winter with all hydro would be the way to go. Ideas ideas.

Thanks Jeff, next season I'll be doing the sand on the top layer of soil and see if that helps. That was 1 of 6 strips and they all look that bad. My OW plants were happy to get outdoors for sure! This weekend, the rest start to make the harden off journey.

The sand on top of the soil works great. I have had great success with it. For my greenhouse I keep a mosquito dunk in my water barrel and water everything from there. That keeps them down as well. Same concept could be applied to a 5 gallon bucket or a big watering can.

How long do you keep yours out at first to harden. I have a fungal knat and aphid problem. pretty bad one too. I'm spraying with soapy water.

OOOps I meant gnats

I do the 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8 plan roughly. The numbers represent hours in the sun. It is going to be in 30's here tonight so I brought everything back in. If the night time temp is OK, I just leave them out but provide shelter from sun outside the hours I expect them to be exposed.

Fungal Gnats sucked bad this year, no doubt did they cause damage to my plants. Just hope everything remains strong and pulls through.

Fungal Gnats or not...they'll be gone soon and your plants will be on there way to recovery.

I've battled with them lately in my basement grow, mostly with the smaller plants. It pays to air dry the soil if damp before using.

Getting your plants outdoors will force the adults to lay eggs elsewhere, they're drawn to
light and areas that are moist.

Thanks, the babies stayed outside last night for the first time. One week in to the harden off process and they are close to going into the soil!
