Nice updates man! I wish I had room to start in November. With my small grow space (2' wide and 18" deep), I didn't start til Jan. 20. I still have an ambitious list though.

As for time. It's my theraphy. Time I can have to myself and also at time with the kids. For some it's a task to harvest. But for me u would be greatful to have harvests like Greg. Or silver surfer. Here's to having an epic year!!

This is exactly how I feel and what I told Patrick in a pm, going to silver surfer's, alabamajacks, wayrights, or windchickens grow and working for a day would be a pleasure. I enjoy the hobby, and the new experiences.

Denniz you summed it up perfectly

so doing a little experiment and see how fast the MG soil can catch up to ROOTS organic LEFT is always MG and RIGHT is Roots Organic

What are the wattages for the bulbs? If the 6 t8s are 32 watt then 6x32=192 watts. If the 8 cfls are 23 watt then 8x23=184 watts. I have no idea what the wattage of your bulbs is, but you should be able to figure it out from there. Make sure to go by the actual watts of the CFL and not by its incandescent equivalent.

So most likely the CFL setup is cheaper to run, but I bet the plants would like the t8s more.
edit: I bet the t8s cover a lot more area as well.

If that's the case then.
212w for my ghetto strip

I think I'll switch to the ghetto strip as if needed I can break it down after and have diff uses whereas the t8s can't do much after. It's almost warm enough to just have them outside all day

Sweet...soil experiments! I love those. Looks like the MG you picked is their standard stuff. I always use the Moisture Control in the blue bags. Your Pretty Purple is rootbound, that's why its budding early. Keep us posted! Plants look great!

Wanna talk about a big grow...here on base they lease out some land to farmers. 1/4 mile long raised rows under black plastic. They have their flats of plants out there now and are putting them in the dirt. Maybe 100 acres of peppers to be planted...That part of base is photo restrictive, but if I can get permission I will snap a couple pics. They also grow lettuce and onions in winter. Tomatoes and even a large area of prickly pear catctus.

That high bay T8 will run a little hotter than a shop light style T8...either will do well.

I say use both.
As much as I would like to. My inside grow is limited now

Those plants look great! Nice, thick green leaves. Well done!
Thanks for dropping by Andy. This years grow has been goin well so far due to all the knowledge I obtained from this site. The growers here are very educational and share the knowledge.

Figured they were root bound. Was suppose to transfer them last Monday the 18th but been busy with the start if school and working 16hr days at work. Will transfer some tomorrow. Prepared their contAiners already.

That would be an awesome site to see. 1/4 acre to grow. Hmm. Mmy sisters house is uncharted territory. But I'd have no time. To go there and care for the plants and neither would they. I'm putting a few plants to iso at her house inn5gal containers.
As for the lights i decided last night to go with the strip for a couple reasons. One. It's cheaper for one at the moment. Two. When grow time inside is done I can easily take apart and store more easy than the t8s. Being here in SoCal it's bear that time to leave them outside all day. Plus when I bought it didn't really think about where I'd hang it. Ahaha.

I appreciate all the feedback. I wonder how much 216w of light running 18hrs a day for 30 days is. Yikes!! But I am returning the t5s I got and will replace them with the strip style lighting.

Everything looks top notch, great job! Looking forward to some FDA Scotch bonnet podage, I'm growing it myself also but just started.

Math time again!
Your electric bill should tell you how much a kilowatt hour costs. 216x18= 3.888 kilowatt hours a day. That times 30= 116.4 kilowatt hours. Lets say that you pay 8 cents a kilowatt hour, you are paying $9.31 to run the light for 30 days.

No...not a 1/4 acre...1/4 mile long rows. With more quarter mile long rows behind them. 10's of thousands of plants. Think they're all Anaheim's going in, will try to ask the guys that work it.

Plants are looking very good. Kind of surprises me the MG isn't keeping up with growth, always thought it was the best at green growing. Thanks for the lesson.
