knives

How about a chainsaw?

now that will cut it. perhaps a tad messy and the 50:1 doesnt make your house smell that good, but hey, at least your meat gets cut up, right?

i never take anything on any board serious...i know my knife question was kinda stupid but mabey i should have explained a little better...when i do cut meat for chili i freeze it so when i cut the cube its like a perfect square..when it is not frozen the meat kinda gives and the squares come out a little not square if you know what i mean..alot of times because i got to work and i dont have time to kinda watch the meat in the freezer so it gets to the point where its kinda half way frozen and cut better...most of the time its rock hard cause i got to put it in the freezer in the morning go to work and cut it when i get home....so basicaly the chainsaw would be perfect....(lol) i appreicate the input because i am always looking for better ways to work smarter than harder.
another thing i would love to learn is if i get a realy nice chef knife how to sharpen it like i see them do on the food network...im afraid i will screw up the blade.

Bubba, perhaps something serrated? Either way, make sure the knife is of very good quality steel with strong edge-retaining abilities. You're gonna need something pretty stout for the job. You may have to do some research to find out what kind of stainless is good for your needs. And as for sharpening, the main trick is to maintain the angle evenly across the edge of the blade. It takes a good bit of time to get it right. When you see those guys on tv use that "sharpener", they're actually not quite sharpening it, but rather honing the blade. They're just taking tiny burrs off the edge of the blade so it cuts smoother.

Just use a hacksaw. As the blade gets dull, it's easily replaced. I use to use one when I was cutting my own meats. If you want to get fancy, get some kind of reciprocating saw. I'm sure folks won't mind a few fingers in their chile.

Actually, that's perfect! Although, if i'm not mistaken, in the meat industry i think they call 'em "bone saws".

hahah

knife porn.

the emerson was really hard to open but i sat there and messed with it for hours last night, and i shot some wd40 on it today, and it works pretty well. the wave feature is just insane. i can open it from my pocket in less than second. why i would want to, im not sure. but hey, whatever.

the problem is, having 1 emerson does not seem to be enough. the knife is awesome, sharp as a razor, and a great grip on it.

so i bought a fixed blade knife too. i sold some stuff on ebay so buying the fixed blade was a wash. its a very small one. a benchmade activator 211. its only 5.5 inches in total, so it should be practical for every day use, and it wont look like i am using a bowie to cut open a box..

I think the blade on my hunting knife is only 3 inches long. Short knifes work good. Although, I never minded carrying a machete in the woods either.:lol:
