Masher's 2018 community grow

Hello all, thanks for looking in. I hope to do a better job this season updating through the busy months of summer.
 
I will be dialing things down this year and concentrating on less strains since i have enough XXX powders to last many years.
 
 
Just put seeds into my soaking solution - 2 tsp clonex liquid to 1 gal H20.
 
Current seed list 2018, all gifted from THP members or from pods I grew last season also from THP members.
 
PaulG - PDN x Bonda F6....Two phenos (reg and late season purple as the label indicated)
 
Devv - Brainstrain - THP Growdown (Supplier Pepper-Guru)
 
Hogleg - Red and Orange Rocoto 
 
Wiriwiri - Short Yellow Tobasco and Guyana Tragedy
 
Unknown? - BBG7 Red (possibly Texas hot peppers? Moruga welder?)

More rocotos...waiting on seeds
 
Seed house via the web - Stavros pepperoncini for pickling, 3rd year collecting/drying seeds.
 
Seeds will soak 24hrs, then into rock wool plugs to wait for hooks.
 
Lighting will be T-5's as space allows...will move into 600W & 1000W  hid room as/if needed.
Ideally I will get a small green house up this season so i don't have to use hid lighting.

It appears to run approx 10 to 15 degrees higher than current temp.

It has 4 roof vents...May install a wall fan in the back if it becomes and issue.

Won't be utilized most likely July thru Sept due to those issues.

Put a few out yesterday to begin hardening off.

My pepperoncini have a bad leaf twist....pods are showing on a few.
Hardened off already in greenhouse so will plant them anyway and see if they over come the twisting.

Anteps doing good....hardened off but not sure if they will go into the ground yet. April is a tricky month here.

Your plants look great.  I am also starting to harden off my plants.  Today is overcast, so perfect day for it.

Mother nature has turned the corner and I am so behind in chores, gardening etc.

But... still plugging along.

Today is soil day.

Only got one bed turned north/south orientation, and may add another next week.

The others will stay where they are, I have run out of time and effort to make any more changes.

1/2 yard of composted garden mix with a 1/2 yard of composted dairy blend.

I wish we had a place here to buy finished product like that. I have to make my own, and it's a ton of work. The one place around here that sells "compost" makes it with shredded cedar (Juniper). Around  here they make fence posts out of Juniper because it takes 30 years to rot. I passed and made my own...

Only one bed, the one made out of 4 x 10 beams shows the amended soil in it.

Pretty cheap as well $44 out the door for the 1+ yard of soil and poo.

The other pics are last yrs soil.

Here's the beds now. Need to water them in and if I am ambitious enough tomorrow, I may drive to the coast and pic up some seaweed to add to it.

Lazy man in me says bone meal and maybe a little more soil top dressing.

Here's the goods.

FFOF soil and HP promix combined 50/50 plus additional perlite.

FF big bloom:- bat guano with worm castings

FF grow big

Fertilome granular mixed in base of potting mix.

Right now they have only had water for the last 2 weeks.

Will just add liquid fish fertilizer tea at time of plant out and as needed until it pods up.

Thanks! Very nice! They're so big and lush. I'm always afraid to feed in the beginning. I waited too long this year and I have a lot of yellowing. Well, not a lot...some. They just aren't as green as they should be. They're getting better now that I've started feeding them a new fert and they're getting some real sun. Awesome stuff! You know what you're doing!

Fox farms has their line of nutes down, and ocean forest is definitely some of the best soil, just a little pricey. I'm surprised they haven't came out with an organic or natural line of nutes yet. Big bloom is organic, but you would probably go broke trying to feed a plant with just big bloom.

Fox farms has their line of nutes down, and ocean forest is definitely some of the best soil, just a little pricey. I'm surprised they haven't came out with an organic or natural line of nutes yet. Big bloom is organic, but you would probably go broke trying to feed a plant with just big bloom.

Alaskan fish fertilizer is pretty close to same product as big bloom.

That bottle is only $15 and I mix 3 tsp per gallon of water. It goes a long ways.

So I am pleased with overall growth on the peppers but dislike podded up plants for Plant out.

So... I removed all blooms and pods on half the Pepperoncini plants and the same on the Anteps.

The other half of each were chopped to promote branching.

Will grow side by side for comparison through the season.

Both are fast growers and neither process will slow down overall production I hope.
