It is virtually impossible to start them all in the same time, so I will try some long growing peppers like Manzano first. Any other suggestions on what to start first?

Nice looking pics Robert! That Bhut looks especially nice. Your water-based grow box looks like an interesting experiment. Keep us posted on how it does for you. I planted 15 of the Kurtovska Kapija seeds I got from you and all of them sprouted. Far freakin' out!!! Thanks guy!

Thanks for stopping by Rick, those Bhuts of yours are true killers ;)
Glad that Kurtovska Kapija worked did great for you!

It's time for my week report :)

I planted my second germinaton box. I used a germination soil in plastic box on router, got constant 25-26 C temp in the box.
It went far better then jiffies! I have 14/24 hooks coming out in 7th day from planting!

Ajijoes's Yellow Trinidad Scorpion FG has 4/4 hook ups already!

It's obvious I'm not coming back to jiffies. This soil is very very light in weight, and it keeps moisture far better then jiffies, so I only sprinkle the setup once a day and that's it. No worries with good results.

My ''aquarium heater in a water in a box'' experiment is not going well. I bought a heater that doesn't have sufficient energy for the big box I prepared, so I'm testing it now in a smaller box. It's only a 25W heater, hope it will be ok in a smaller box.

Hi Robert
Glad the Bhuts are going good for you! I'm not a fan of the Jiffies either, I like my own mix of peat, perlite, rock phosphate and bone meal.

Sorry to hear the water grow-box experiment didn't work out, but that's why we tinker, eh?

Your right on that Rick.

I'm testing a new box as we type :)
If I get a 23c temp, I think I will give it a go.
If not - I have good things going on with the other setup :)

Wow, it's been a month from last update :D

Well, thing are going ok, not much to talk about. Peppers are germinating fine, I have 35 plants from 12 varieties I planted so far.
Bhut Jolokia Indian Carbon 7/8
Peach Habalokia 3/4
Wiri Wiri Ma 4/4
Wild Brasil 2/4
Butch-T 3/4
Choco Fatalii 3/4
Orange Manzano 2/4
Yellow Trinidad Scorpion FG 3/4
Yellow Datil 1/4
Poblano 3/4
Red Rocoto 1/2
Aribibi Gusano 3/4

Since my cat killed two plants, and I lost few plants due to a heater failure in my water germination box, 74% germination looks ok. Not as I hoped but ok.

The good news is snow is over - we had a first warm and sunny day of the year yesterday, so I took out my plants for a sunbath. Today I will do it again.

In a week or two I will set up my plastic greenhouse in the yard and speed things up with outdoor germination and growth.

Thanks Rick :)

There's not really much to see:

I watered them equally this morning before I took them out for some sun. As you can see, some are heavy drinkers, and some are not :D

I just hope we wont have any new snowstorms, so I can transport my peppers out. Most of the last two months my yard was filled with snow :D

Yesterday I had a germination record - Scotch Bonnet Orange came out on the 5th day :)
Few Bonnets and a few Jamaican red hooks anyway :D

Rest of the plants is growing fast, due to few sunny days. To give them a good start I also have them under CFL's through night

Yellow Trinidad Scorpion ''FG'' closer look

But, unfortunately there is another cold wave coming next week, down to -5 C :(
Comparing weather conditions and plant size, it looks like this season is few weeks behind the last. Still good, though.

Nice update, the TS FG looks very healthy. Looks like an nice variety to grow.

Thanks man :)
I'm very curious about this variety, and it's a fast grower.

Hi Robert, glad to see things are looking green for you! When do you think you'll be planting outside?

Hi Rick.
Well, it's hard to say. I will probably setup a greenhouse in 3 weeks, when the subzero temps are gone.
I will not plant them in the ground till May since the frost danger is very unpredictable here. Last year we had a frost on May 21st!

Thanks for stopping by guys :)

I have a new record - few of my peppers hooked after 3 days!

3 Scotch Bonnet Orange, 1 Jamaican Red, 1 Choco Fatalii (this one is not really visible due to camera angle), 1 TS Yellow FG -those hooks marked on pics were added to the box on wednesday night!

I know it's silly, but I just had to share this with someone :D

Obviously these are good seeds, and also the conditions were good this week - my germination box is near a south window. We had worm and sunny weather last few days, room temp was a few degrees higher then before.

This was a great pepper weekend! 12 plants got out of germination box :)

To sum up current status:
Bhut Jolokia Indian Carbon 7/8
Peach Habalokia 3/4
Wiri Wiri Ma 4/4
Wild Brasil 2/4
Butch-T 3/4
Choco Fatalii 4/5
Orange Manzano 1/4
Yellow Trinidad Scorpion FG 4/5
Yellow Datil 1/4
Poblano 3/4
Red Rocoto 1/2
Aribibi Gusano 3/4
Inca Berry 1/12
Scotch Bonnet Orange 6/12
Jamaican Red 3/12

These are not final, sinca I got more of some of those varieties germinating.

In fact, there are more then 20 hooks in germination box thay will be ready for transplanting in a day or two. That could be a problem since I'm almoust out of pepper space and still can't move them outside :D

Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Nice! I'll bet you're pumped Robert :surprised: I'm rapidly running out of room here too, and it'll be time to up-pot the first Annuums next weekend. Cheers!

Thanks Rick. I could pot-up few plants this week also, but I'm in no hurry, they are not as big as yours.I was just looking last year photos, although I started a week earlier this season, I'm about 2 weeks behind due to colder weather this year.I'm not worried since there is still plenty of time for them to ripen, but I'm not so sure about those 7pots, morugas and rocotos I ordered last week :

Updated status 15.03.2013.:
Bhut Jolokia Indian Carbon 7/8
Peach Habalokia 3/4
Wiri Wiri Ma 4/4

Inca Berry 7/12
Scotch Bonnet Orange 12/12

I also ordered 25 Sunleaves Grow Pots (5 gallon)
http://www.sunleaves....asp?sku=SGB300

Not sure about their quality but I will give them a try.
They are cheaper then standard plastic 5 gallon pots ($1.16 a piece)
Plus I'm thinking about making holes to convert them in some sort of airpot. Don't know if it is possible or if it will work, but i'll try it on few pieces.

I'm aiming to get around 150 plants from my 44 varieties.
Plan is to get 120 of them in the ground, 25 in standard pots, 25 in grow pots.

Since I already have extra plants from some varieties (i.e. I got 12/12 Scotch Bonnet Orange sprouted in 9 days from sowing!), I will give away the rest to family and friends.

Hi Robert
Your grow list looks excellent. I think you'll like the Mexican varieties. Most of them are quite tasty but only about medium heat. The exception is the De Arbol, which will zing you good. The only Annuum I know of that's hotter is the Goat Weed.

Good luck with the Sunleaves grow bags... DocNrock is using them, or something like them, and his chiles look happy. Cheers

Hi Rick.
Thanks, I'm looking forward to Chile De Arbol, sounds very promising :)

I''ll try starting the rest of my varieties (about 30 is left to start) this weekend. Time is ticking, I have to start them soon to get some varieties ripe till September (Morugas, 7 Pots). It's challenging but doable.

I think :D

Weather conditions are not good, this is how it looks outside right now:

It should get better after the weekend, so I will move outdoor next week. Hopefully that will speed things up.

I haven't done much research, but they look promising. I will definitly try making air holes on few of them to get a bit of the air pot effect, just for the fun of it :D

New round of sowing today:
Fatalii 0/6
Green Habanero 0/8
TS Moruga Red 0/6
TS Moruga Yellow 0/6
7 Pot Primo Orange 0/7
7 Pot Barrackpore 0/5
Roccoto Costa Rican Red 0/7
Roccoto Yellow 0/6
Orange Manzano 0/5
Big Jim Anaheim 0/5
Chile De Arbol 0/5
Orange Habanero 0/5
White Bullet Habanero 0/5
