It is virtually impossible to start them all in the same time, so I will try some long growing peppers like Manzano first. Any other suggestions on what to start first?

Is the wild Brazil capsicum praetermissum or a Chinese? I have seen it as both

Hi Rob.

I got the seeds from Aji Joe, here's what the dry pod looks like:

I did some research now, and I see it is a Chinense, I didn't know that there is Wild Brazil that is Chinense, my first google info on Wild Brasil was praetermissum (note to myself - research better :D)
Thanks for the info :)

I tasted one dry pod, and flavor is not like any chinensis I've tried before, but good with intense but tolerable heat that goes away after mintue or two.

I just knew that it was a chinense because I was researching wilds the other day and came across info on a few sites saying that and trade winds fruits had it as praetermissum like 5 years ago but I know they are wrong anyways nice grow I will be watching this one

Thanks Rob.

Now, it looks like my growing list is getting bigger every day.
I was looking through m pepper equipment closet shelf and found a plastic bag with Nagabon seeds I got from a fellow grower few months back.

Back to the germination box it is :D

It's a busy weekend overhere :)

Didn't have time for many pics, so here's one:

Plastic greenhouse is ready, just waiting for better temps so I can keep peppers outdoor at night too.

Also, I've finalized variety list and planted all I wanted (or could :D) - 45 varieties:

Hi Robert
You've got an ambitious list for sure, and I hope you do well this season!

The Kurtovska Kapia peppers I planted back in January are all at least 13cm tall, with 5mm thick stems. They're all putting out side branching at the nodes, branching at the top and blossoming. I want them at least 28cm tall before I allow them to set fruit, so I'm pinching the blossoms until then. It's still pretty cold here... It's -11C outside right now and a major snowstorm is predicted for tonight and tomorrow, but I expect things to warm up quickly by the end of the month, and will plant outside sometime around the 3rd or 4th week of April.
Cheers!

Hi Rick, thanks for stopping by.
It is ambitios, hope it comes through :)
I have a lot of land down on the farm in my home town, so I'm trying to make some use of it :D

Weather here is much colder then last year, we just got out of subzero C temps at night, and we will be going down again next week :(
It is still to cold for the greenhouse, so I will have to bring my plants in every night for few more weeks.
The good thing is - soil will be very wet for planting in May, so maybe I will not have to water them as often as last season. These days water is coming out from every single hole in soil :D

Good call on the Kurtovska kapija peppers, they can get pretty huge, so it's good to have big and strong plants for them, and yours are growing great.

The weather is gonna drive me crazy. We are in for two more weeks with some subzero C temps at night :(

Not only that I cant move my plants outdoor, this also holds me down from potting up - I dont have more indoor space for bigger pots. And new plants are popping out from today.

Hope my bigger plants will not suffer dwarfism from rootbound in 2 oz cups, as I've read it can happen.

I feel your pain, man.
Me too... we had about 12 cm of snow yesterday after the snow had almost completely melted... Winter's getting old...

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Hope it gets better for all of us. There is a snow storm probably coming here next week, hope this is the last one and a one day thing.

I'll try to ignore the weather for a while and say some good news - I have new hooks.
They are popping out as i write - Morouga Yellow, Tabasco, Manzano, Rocoto Yellow, Green Habanero, 7 Pot Barrackpore, 7 Pot Primo, Early Jalapeno... :)

Will update the list when I get home and see final numbers.

Best of luck guys, hope we all get through this :)

There's more then 120 chilli plants in my house ATM, and more then 150 seeds germinating, plus 200 seeds of tomatoes, and about 100 seeds of herbs :D

It's really crowded, and I have to hold on till friday, the weather should get warmer by then (+5 C over the night) and hopefully I can get bigger plants out of the house permanently.

I have to be creative and fill in all the empty spots by the south windows

And the windows them self :D

Smaller plants are really not growing for a week now, they are just surviving.
Wife is gonna kill me if I don't clean windows from the dirt ASAP :D

Some of the germ boxes are on top of the closets :D

These tomato seedlings are my biggest problem right now. I have no light or south window for them, and I don't know if they will survive till friday. Will try to give them few hours of CFL light everyday to keep them alive.

Man, that's an ambitious grow! You might want to look into a growing section like spicy chicken has going. It's the best use of space for starting seedlings in quantity that I've seen... http://thehotpepper.com/topic/37439-spicy-chickonas-mmxiii-grow-log/page__st__60#entry799491

Good luck with your grow this year... I think it's going to be a later spring than it was last year, but hopefully enough rain and warmth so we all have a good harvest.

Boy, he has a great grow section :D
I'm gonna give half of mine stuff to family and friends, but the truth is - weather surprised me, we haven't had a winter like this for more then five years. Usually I could start with outdoor growth in late February, early March. That's why I planted almost 400 veggioe seeds last week - expecting they will be ready for outdoor growth by now.

Good luck with your grow this year... I think it's going to be a later spring than it was last year, but hopefully enough rain and warmth so we all have a good harvest.

Thanks
I'm thinking the same, there's still plenty of time left :)

Hi guys. Just a little update, nothing worth picture taking.

Although the weather is still bad (we had a little snow again yesterday, and during the night temps still go under 0 C, my plants are surviving :)

I also got more then 200 tomato seeds to germinate on the top of my closet (on 20 C temp.), I got 220 plants from 34 varieties, plus 10 tomatillos (verde + purple). I lost few of them under the CFL bulbs from heat, but there's plenty left :)
I'm changing them under the light every few hours, so that every plant gets some light.

Peppers are developing veeeeery slooooowly, but they are developing :)
They don't go under the bulbs, they are on the south window, waiting for the sun :)
They are all alive for now, hope it stays that way
Weather is not going to be great, if the weather men are correct (and they usually are) we will only have 4-5 sunny days through the month.

However, things are looking better - in the middle of next week we should ge 5+ C temps over night, so I can put my plants in the greenhouse. Finally! :D

I also got few more plants, so here's update:

Hi Robert
Too bad they don't give us an "Unlike" button to hit for your cold weather... It's pretty much the same here... on my way to work yesterday morning I had to pass over a spot of black ice on the highway that was very treacherous going. For a wonder, there weren't any collisions. Hopefully, sometime in the next couple of weeks it'll warm up here to 5 degrees C consistently overnight and I can set up my hoophouse, but for now it's somewhere between -6 and -2 degrees C. At least the snow is all gone in the sunny spots.

Thanks for stopping by Rick. Sorry to hear you are struggling also.

It looks like this is gonna be a hard working season for many of us.

I really hope that the worst weather of the season is behind us :)

Cheers!

Sun is finally here, just a glimpse, but it's a good sign :)

We're gonna have +5 C night temps from Wednesday, so I will be able to keep them out 24/7.

Hope they start growing fast, I have a lot of 3 weeks old peppers on south window and they still didn't develop first true leaves, due to no sun.

Well, I guess Ican state that my peppers survived the winter :)
Most of my peppers are out in greenhouse 24/7 from yesterday.
They didn't grow much in last month, they were stunt by cold temps and almoust no sun.

Choco Fatalli, Yellow TS FG and Poblano - 2 months old

Those peppers were in my window for 3 weeks, they were stunted completely but are recovering and growing now :)

Some of the bigger ones, ready to pot up.
I'm thinking about planting them in the ground next week, I don't have much space for bigger pots (too many peppers :D)

April sprouts - peppers, tomatoes and few tomatillos. Maybe I will get few more plants from this two boxes, but generally speaking germination is over :)

Most excellent pics Robert! You've really got an ambitious grow planned unless you're planning on selling off most of the seedlings. That's a lot of peppers and tomatoes!

I had to start pinching off blossoms on the Kurtovska Kapia peppers last week because they're still only 20 to 25cm tall, but they're really green and sturdy-looking. I gave most of them to my Mom to grow because she loves sweet peppers and she has much more room to grow them than I do, and I think they'll need it! ;)

The Poblanos will get about a meter tall if growing conditions are right, and if they set lots of pods will be extremely top-heavy. Make sure you stake them up well! I didn't last year, and a wind squall snapped one off flush with the ground that was loaded with peppers. Cheers!
