My Jalabanero F1 peppers! All from one plant, pictured in reply.

My new favorite, Black Hungarians! Last year I only had one of these survive to produce peppers and they were like a delicacy, this year my neighbor and I have many of them planted and are in BH heaven!

I do not really know (help me out on the bigger peppers) and Cayenne peppers

MMMMMMM Garlic, Shallots & Ginger root ready to be dehydrated with the peppers for a killer seasoning!

The Trunk of the plant! I have had many people ask if it's some sort of Banzai Pepper tree.... I forgot a quarter or dime to compare size, but eh....

Right before I picked all the ripe ones, here's hoping it produces this well next year (hope I can keep it alive another winter)
 
Wow lovely F1 JalapeƱo you got there and as you say you certainly have had a great harvest..lovely thick trunk on that beauty :)

Jalabanero* = JalapeƱo + Habanero

BTW, don't you have F2 already?
 
Great looking plants and peppers....Did the plant produce better in the third year than it did in the second year?

I had F2 and F3 Jalabanero planted, but due to an unfortunate accident while starting plants this year and the all died. I didn't try and sprout new ones.

Thank yu! Yes, it has been producing way better this year than last year. Last year all it produced was aboot 40 peppers total, I picked over 60 already this year.

more reasons for me to overwinter/grow thru winter my orange hab this year...
 
Looks great. I plan to overwinter as many of the most important and "special" plants hoping they'll produce much better next year - not that I can complain about this year's number of pods, but anyway....

I pollinated the JalapeƱo with a Habanero in 2005 and planted the seeds in 2006. Due to a dumb move and listening to "The Garden Guy" on TV I lost almost every plant I had started that year from a very late frost, the F1 JalabaƱero I have was the only surviving one from 9 started. Nearly died from an aphid infestation and then it produced some almost exactly what I wanted from the Hybrid, a mix of JalapeƱo and Habanero flavor with some really good heat. Overwintered it keeping it barely alive with basement florescent lights. 2007 it didn't do much of anything until the end of the year. Winter 2007 I was able to use my store front window as a greenhouse, spring forward 10 months and here in 2008 there it is.

So JalabaƱero F1 Born Feb 2006 - 20XX.
