Natural Born Basterds

This GLOG will be dedicated to some hybrids of interest that have emerged from my pepper garden since 2020. I plan to follow them at least until F3 to see if they are worth it. Please note that no seeds will be shared at this time. Let's grow!

I harvested and processed some more TACOx F1 pods earlier this afternoon and I managed to find other pods showing tainted placental tissue. It's not very apparent but it's there:

DOx F3

I really love this one and while it's not the most productive cross, the crunchy texture and great flavor more than makes up for it! The F4 generation will be grown from plant #5 seeds, as the pods are very similar in shape and size to the one harvested last year at F2 and it showed greater consistency compared to his siblings.

#3 (different color but exact same flavor; without any citrus notes!)

Still waiting for the first fruits to ripen, it is by far the laziest of the group!

Maybe just the lighting but the colors really poppin on #7
Yeah, I always take two photos: one in full sun and another in a shadier location. Like you said, the color of these is "poppin'" big time, even without proper luminosity!

@Bou, I like them all, lol. I agree, #5 would be my choice. Now, #3 sure is kinda sexy. Look at that interior pic. What a beautiful color! Would make a pretty sauce.
Thanks mate! Growing space is unfortunately something I don’t have enough of but who knows, I might also sow some seeds from plant #3 next winter!

GJMx F2
Black plants full of dark purple fruits that ripen to a mustard/butterscotch color. The pods are thin-walled, quite soft and very spicy (superhot range)! Flavor-wise, they have that typical “mustard” taste that some love but others hate! The shape of the pods is surprisingly similar between each individual, except for plant #3. Most fruits tend to be elongated but some do have a moruga-like shape.

Plant #1

The pods are a bit heavier on this plant and most look like little Moruga wannabes! Will probably grow seeds from this plant next year.
