Neighbor trying to kill my plants...

Ok, so I have an asshole for a neighbor. He is always tormenting my dog and just trying to start stuff with us. He has loosened lug nuts, let air out of tires... I have called the cops, but all I got from them is I need video of photographic proof of him doing it. I bought locking lug nuts and an air compressor, so I'm not too worried about that anymore.

Anyways, today I noticed my garden was nearly all brown. Yesterday, it was all green and healthy. I'm working on getting a motion activated camera, the kind used for scouting hunting locations, but in the mean time, how could I catch him in the act?

I want to keep it legal, so I am thinking electric fence or just squeezing all the juices out of some peppers and brushing the plants down with it, in hope he has to rub his eyes...

Any thoughts?
 
Hmmmmm.... Does he lock his doors? If not, give him a squirt of pepper spray on his toothbrush, bathroom door handle, toilet paper, etc. If he doesn't have cameras around, he can't prove shit either.


That really sucks man! I can't imagine neighbors being THAT terrible. I think I'd have to at least piss in his mailbox a time or two, or maybe fill it with a bit of weekend-beer-drinkin-morning-after-poop.

Of course, messin with the mail is a federal offense, but again, unless there's a camera......:lol:
 
Well, the only thing about using pepper spray or anything of the like is he has a 3 year old...

We have apartment style mailboxes and his is right above mine, so pissing in it wouldn't be a good idea...
 
What's the dude's gig? Why's he all bent at you?

It'd be nice to come up on a cheap motion activated record camera. Like a nanny cam or one of those ones they put along deer trails in the woods to see what's up and ruin the guy.

He tries to bully everyone around here and I'm the only one that has ever stood up to him, so in his words he is going to "break" me.

I'm headed to the sporting goods store tomorrow to look for a camera.

I'm thinking my only option is a camera possible in conjunction with an electric fence.
 
What a jerk, its good that you've stood up to him, but what an ass for doing what he's doing.

Hmmm, the rubbing pepper sauce on stuff is good, lets hope it works and he touches some other "orifices" on his body!

I too, hope he doesnt have any little ones.
 
I've got a simple way to torment this asshole. I'm assuming this clown has an A/C system and uses it a lot. Go pick up some positraction additive from a Ford dealer(part # XL-3), put some gloves on and then go soak a rag with this nasty ass stuff and stuff the rag in his air conditioner. Do not, i repeat, DO NOT get this stuff on you or your clothes.....you will regret it if you do.
 
Just call the cops and let them know what's going on. They'll have a talk with the guy and make sure he doesn't keep pushing. Good luck.

ratman - sorry to hear you have one of those A-hole neighbors, but more so you have one thats going beyond being a a-hole, he's doing stuff that could kill you.
loosening the lugnuts, WTF! that would make almost anyone bring some hurt onto him, but for legal reasons its better to catch him otherwise go to jail.

as for the game cameras (hunting) I dont think that'd be your best option, heres the reasons
- you're dealing with a human that can see color & flashes in a city setting, even in infared they still flash red bulbs.
- location to placing a game camera, needs to be close to the location you're watching, around 30 FT
- then size, they can stand out somewhat, again you're dealing with a human not a animal.

I think you'd be better off using some kind of small video system that you could place on your soffit or looking through your window. but then you need to wonder will he see you place the system ?

my understanding is that wont do anything but stink up the outside, cuz the A/C unit outside is only there to cool off the freon thats sealed in the tube that goes to a A-coil in the duct work inside the house.
BUT you can go over to his house & easily shut the gas off :lol:
 
He got arrested today for shooting turtles. shouldnt have any problems for a few days at least.

As for talking to the cops, I have called them several times, but they just come out, take a statement and leave. Not to mention, if there isn't a weapon involved, the response time is measured in hours, not minutes.

I also forgot to mention that I filed a complaint with the leasing office yesterday as well.

I'm looking at a security camera system. It has 4+ cameras, a wireless receiver and recording software. They can also be rigged with a motion sensor to automatically record when something moves. As soon as I can afford that, I will be getting it.

In the mean time, I am booby trapping my garden. Right now, I just have a trip line and cans... It makes just enough noise to get the dogs going. I also have a pack from a bank... I don't know if I want to waste it on this guy tho...
 
I dont know how restraining orders work, but is it possible to get one on the guy. or do you have to have some kind of proof & reason.
just so if you see or someone else see's the guy go onto your property you could take some kind of legal action against him.

I mean come'on, loosening your lugnuts WTF! thats going out of the way to bring harm if not death onto you, what ever happened to just not talking to the neighbor you dont like ?

You would have to have some good reason like him threatening you or proof that he was trying to harm you. The problem is unless you can PROVE he did all those things he is innocent until proven guilty. You could have a PI come out and try and get fingerprints off the lug nets or something like that or try and get him on video or camera, but other than that . Bottom line is don't stoop to his level. Most of the time these idiots will continue to do stupid things like shooting turtles and will eventually get caught anyway. ;)
 
We don't speak to him. Well, other than to tell him to leave my dog alone, or to stay out of my yard.

I'm just gonna get the cameras and show the cops the proof and go from there.

Like I said tho, he shouldn't be giving me any problems for a while..
