Noah I started a worm bin as per your instructions and everything seems to be going fine. The worms have been doing their thing for about a month now. In your opinion about how long should I wait till I start harvesting the castings?

With my method of filling large tubs I usually wait until the volume of food and bedding has been reduced by about half...   In other words, if my 25 gallon bin was filled to the top after rebuilding, then I will usually harvest when the level has diminished to the center of the tub (@around 13 gallons)-----> (which will yield about 8-9 gallons of castings).  Sometimes I wait longer, but at that point the worms are starting to run out of good food.

What is the mulch made of?

It comes from the road department a private tree care and removal service.  So exactly what type of trees go into it is a mystery.

Well... here we are approaching the end of the season and I must say, although my gardens dont look spectacular, considering that I only fed my home garden once (with home-made worm castings) and never fed my 'experimental test grow' after transplanting into the ground, I am perfectly content with their productivity.  In fact, the test grow was fairly well a full neglect grow after June.  As you can see in the pictures, the grass around the plants is waist-high. Several events in my life conspired to make tending the peppers seem less important.  However, the plants are still producing several pounds of delicious peppers, and I am mostly satisfied with this season.  I will say that I am really excited about next season when I will attempt to finally accomplish the perfect grow

Luckily the chiggers were not bad this year. XD

I will say one of the major drawbacks of the tall grass is that many of the peppers are speckled with black spots (insect doo-doo).  Luckily it washes off easily ;)

Makes me think I need to plant where I hunt...oh wait....the deer would eat everything!
I guess if you could catch the deer in the act, the peppers would function as good bait.
